I get that, but we can I'll afford for him to drop his current standard. Maybe start Mahrez and bring Sterling on if the game is won or we need to twist. No doubt Pep will sort it out

Don't get involved mate, sit back and see whether he gets selected on Sunday,if he does then fingers crossed he has a blinder,if he comes on as sub let's hope he runs them ragged, but if he starts and has a mare,as usual there, then we know that there is a problem when he plays there,so Guardiola will have to answer questions after, especially if we lose as to why he selected him

Interesting game today, he started brilliantly, had 3 or 4 great runs, had sime big chances but Nagelsman changed the formation and put an extra man inform of him and he really struggled after that.

I think it's the first time I've seen a manager make a tactical change specifically to stop Sterling, and if he keeps up his form this season he might have to get used to it and learn to deal with it better because he got subdued by it today.

Yep, noticed the same thing and a smart substitution from Pep - at the time I was worried he would sub out Sane who actually still tried (Albeit unsuccessfully) to run at the opposition. I was surprised that Sterling didn't make more attempts to force the action out wide and take his markers on which made the Mahrez substitution timely & wise on the part of Guardiola

I had hoped to see Sterling build on his fantastic season last year and the great early start but I saw a tepid reaction from him in the 2nd half when he was faced with a bit more adversity defensively. I like to see the best talents rise to the occasion and that means you will have to take some risks against a well organized defense and we didn't really see that from him

Pretty clear City have missed De Bruyne's influence & leadership on the pitch for matches like these

FWIW, some great defending by Hoffenheim.

How is he ever going to play well at Anfield if everyone wants him dropped whenever we play there?

It’s not about being dropped though. It’s about maximizing long term edges. That’s the key and this isn’t an individual game so that’s why Raz shouldn’t start. There’s elements that you aren’t even thinking of factoring but have to be factored. I’ve @‘ed you a few already.

It’s so hard to explain without coming off like a condescending prick but I used to play high stakes poker for a living. I’ve played vs the GOAT Ivey. I won’t bring up my track record but there’s reasons I’ve been posting confidently for years and my trAck record is often right.

I’m the shitty harabalous voulharis :-)

Surely at least 1 person will laugh at that

Time for Raheem to step up , he needs to ram all the shite the Dippers have given him down their throats , play without fear , after Hazard he is the best wide attacking player in europe and if he plays to his potential that translucent skinned f*cker Robertson will be going home after the match with twisted blood .

That’s the spirit lad

If Sterling wants to prove himself one of the best in europe and worth £250k a week , then games like today against the Dippers are the ones he needs to stand up and be counted , stuff the atmosphere and the hate , he needs to get stuck into Roberston and take his chances when they come along and ram the Dipper taunts down their throats.

I agree, and it would be great if Sterling can silence the kop, especially if it's the winning goal.

Come on City!

His performances vs Liverpool have steadily improved since he got here.

Today’s the day he finally scores imo can’t wait to see the celebration. Imagine he’s been waiting for that moment for a long time. Having won the PL, his move is already vindicated but scoring in a win at Anfield would bring another type of satisfaction.

Even if Sterling scores today, I don't think he'll celebrate because he's got too much class and is too much of a professional. Obviously, we all want to see him doing Adebayor but let's be honest it's not very mature. Plus, celebrating wildly at Anfield would clearly indicate that he cares what scousers think about him and it would be his payback time to them. On the other hand, if he doesn't celebrate, it just shows that he doesn't give a **** about them and he does his job as a pure professional which is mature and shows a high-level of intelligence.
