It's a bit simplistic when people are saying walk away and sign Reus instead. He doesn't want to leave Dortmund, and they don't want to sell. And he's not English.

I think we've handled this transfer pretty badly to be honest, especially when we will surely end up paying the full £50 million.

It feels like we're trying to be too cute and clever, rather getting the ball over the line.

Agree. We'll end up paying the full figure six weeks later.

I just can't get over the fact that these idiots are willing to lose £45m for the sake of... £5m. Just so they can appear the moral victors in the press, ridiculous.

Will say it one last time.

An official Liverpool briefing took place earlier today.

That briefing entailed no new bid from City, no contact from City for three weeks, and a continued insistence they are far from ready to deal at less than £50m.

Why do you think Sterling has gone to such extreme lengths this week?

Both he and his agent are flapping like mad and hoping to force the hand of Liverpool or City.

This deal will happen, but City will either have to blink first or drag this out as feasibly possible.

Hopefully, both teams being in the same part of the world might at least start a cordial discussion.

It'll get done.

Would a formal transfer request from Sterling change things in terms of us reaching agreement with Liverpool? Presumably he'd then forsake any payments due to him which might help speed things along.

Catastrophic? it would suck no doubt but i think you need to calm down.
Just google what it actually means as a word and then think if missing out on a player really is that bad.
To me it would mean that we have missed out on a primary transfer target and would reduce the chance of us competing for major honours next year.
