Bale? (Not sure how available his though).

Sterling has potential but he is far from the finished article. I think he is greatly overvalued at present and only a slight improvement on Navas. Ok for 25M but wouldn't pay more than that.

You managed to name one player who might not be available and would cost twice as much. Sterling is overvalued relative to his ability but then all decent home grown players seem to be hugely overvalued so you have to compare him to other home grown players in terms of price. We need some home grown players so unless we scratch around buying players who will never get in the team which ends up being an even more false economy, we have to accept the fact that we are going to get ripped off for one or two decent home grown players along the line.

Rather pay the extra and go for Bale. Or pay significantly less for a less overvalued home grown player with potential (e.g. instead of Caballero) and use the money we have to spend on the real quality we need.

I just think we'd be making a mistake with Sterling. Maybe I have just seen him on his bad days but his end product has been pretty poor whenever I've seen him.

If we are allowed to spend then we should get both.

But if you have only seen poor end product from Sterling, then you missed him vs us & also scored a great goal v Chelsea.

For a 20 year old often being played out of position, I don't know what people think is acceptable tbh, but it's a pretty high standard if Sterling is below it.

If City really are after this muppet then I think my decision to not renew my season card was 100% correct.

He is an overrated egotistical, too big for his boots twat and I'm glad I will not be contributing to his coming here (if he does).

Have you never moved jobs?
Don't know what me moving jobs has to do with Sterling being hugely overrated and will probably be one of the biggest mistakes thus club will make.

There he is.....

It's interesting how the scousers are slagging him off, saying he isn't good enough for the top level, that he isn't worth the wages he wants - yet they are so upset that he's going.

If I was a Liverpool fan I'd want them to big him up as the best player going, then try and get more money. From a bartering point of view it will be hard for Liverpool to ask for another £10m after they've said he isn't worth more than £100,000 a week.....

Watch my flow

Let me get this straight Bigjoe, you want him but maybe the fee is a tad high ? that is what i am getting from your fence sitting posts sir.

In related news, if anything always remember this media onslaught when people say it is fair and objective.
That is not because it is us, he could be off to chelsea, nowt to do with city this for me. The media and pundits are ripping into him for doing sod all.
He is not the first to want a better chance at medals and will not be the last, what is the bloody problem.

The club forced him to speak out by leaking stuff FIRST to force his hand; supercilious deluded thieving arseholes!

I could understand people thinking the fee for a player is high but its not your money you are spending..... we have missed players ie hazzard because of a few mill. This summer is about not fucking around get the 1st choice players we want and get our title back. The people that bang on about fees are the same people who complaine when we end up with garcia etc. ALL players are over priced but thats how it is.

He will literally rot on the bench if he moves to City. His career will nose dive.

£40million though? Sounds tasty
