I want these numbers quoted every time some fucker attempts to discuss value for money on a transfer.
We paid Toure £1.25m in wages whilst he was away playing at AfCON.
We have paid £80m for a ground extension of 6,000 seats that won't see a return for 25 years.
Lastly, we paid Scott Sinclair £40k a week for three years.
Some of these same fans who pay £6.50 for a shitty balti pie and consider it a form it nutrition.
it's very odd that some people get worked up about so-called value for money or what players are perceived by the media or fans of other clubs as actually being worth and how we shouldn't pay over the odds in case we look like mugs. i don't understand it at all.
it's the 21st century and it's a capitalist consumerist world where we all at times have to overpay for things, every single one of us, but it is all relative...
when i'm at the airport waiting to catch a flight i know very well that i am overpaying for my drinks at the bar but it doesn't stop me enjoying my trip/drinks, because in the grand scheme of things i know i can afford it so it doesn't really matter. i want (or need) that drink and so i buy it and i enjoy it. likewise on the plane and in the hotel bar.
to spend any time at all worrying that i am looking like a mug to others would be a complete waste of life and ruin the pleaure of the fucking drinks & the fucking trip.
as has clearly been shown by damocles, £50million isn't close to being a problem to our club, even if they/we might know it's a bit more than the real value or worth, in the grand scheme of things it shirley doesn't matter one iota. what matters is that we need to buy a homegrown & we need some pace and who cares if it comes a slightly higher price.
serious question to all of those who think that £50m is too much to pay...
have you never overpaid for anything in your life yet gone on to thoroughly enjoy it? never ever? never?
or are you the sourpuss at the airport who sits there in the uncomfortable waiting-area seats with a packed lunch and a dry mouth, refusing to pay 20% over the odds for a drink because it's a rip-off? the joke is on you, you are spiting yourself. life is too short to worry about what other people might or might not think about you.
it isn't your/our money and nor will it end up personally costing you a penny, so what's it all about?
why worry if something is overpriced if it fills a need? c'est la vie!
it's a real shame that people might get upset about such things.
when you are watching the blues next season and we are playing beautiful fiootball and you are really enjoying your day, will it genuinely enter your thoughts that other people might think you are are a mug because city paid a bit more for someone who was needed and who may in fact make you smile?
football is entertainment & i for one am more than content if the people running our beloved club are willing to spend a tiny percentage of their wealth so that tens of thousands of us can enjoy the ride.
rant over, haha, just getting giddy like everyone else on here.
