The point is like Chelsea we will end up paying the asking price, making this whole affair pointless and avoidable.They turned down the first bid after a transfer request came in. Not sure what the point is.

Even Tolmie's gone from 'Welcome to Manchester' to 'we've not even got an agreement with the scousers'.
The protracted nature of this transfer has been incredibly boring and I hate Liverpool much more than I did at the start of the window after all this posturing and childish bollocks.
Just pay the £50 Mil and get the player we need. We need to stop trying to be too cute and just get it over with!

When you attempt to spend £20m less at first, then compromising at £5m in a transfer worth such a vast amount then whatever your trying to prove didn't pass.Is spending £5m less not a good thing?
People rightfully bemoan Liverpool being smalltime but I wouldn't be surprised that if this bid is rejected that we would come back with £46m.

If it's £5m more than we think he's worth then yes, absolutely.
I'm still pretty sure he'll be a City player come September, so no-one has been lost yet.
Txiki isn't trying to act billy big bollocks, he's trying to save our club money that we don't necessarily have to pay. Would have thought that was a good thing.

I don't recall anything over the press about Torres before he put in the transfer request other than that he wasn't for sale.
