The playing time narrative is a joke. Sterling has made comments about wanting to play in Spain before, he said it in his infamous BBC interview before he left Liverpool.
We've had contract offers on the table for him for years now. IMO he's been deliberately running his contract down and is now using the same narrative that Milner did, when it's been his plan all along.
