Against Swansea, away, with Ivan Golac making an appearance as well.Ronnie Hildersley former apprentice made one appearance for the first team early 80s in the Old Division One.
I saw him score a consolation goal away at Brighton late December 1979,a very cold day,a 4-1 hammering.Stuart Lee. He came. did nowt. Buggered off to play most of his career in the states. A classic signing from Stockport County.
Yes Brewster I was there - terrible game :-( think Bobby McDonald got our only goal.Against Swansea, away, with Ivan Golac making an appearance as well.
Tom Madigage? Seem to remember a lot of hype about him, a few reserve games and disappearedWho can remember a young South African player we had in the late 80s, he was on a trial I think and played up front? I can’t remember his name and it’s bugging me now.
Not sure whether he ever played a first team game but I seem to recall him playing on the reserves, and there was a bit of (misplaced) hype about him at the time.
Looking back now this was the sort of thing (among many others) that marked out the Swales era - players with little obvious pedigree turning up out of nowhere and immediately getting in and around the first team. It was pretty much a free-for-all.
Christ! What a lineup :-|
I remember Bobby Mac scored as he was my favourite player at the time, not sure about Andy May to be honest.Yes Brewster I was there - terrible game :-( think Bobby McDonald got our only goal.
Didn’t Andy May play too ?
Yes, that’s it, thanks. Like you say, loads of hype and then never to be seen or heard of again.Tom Madigage? Seem to remember a lot of hype about him, a few reserve games and disappeared
