Random ramblings on robinho/media/double standards

Good post
I actually thought Bellers had an ok game by his standards i was quite frustrated with him at times .As for Robbie the rag top "The Sun " gave him 3 out of ten last week now 4 out of ten this week so he is getting better by their standards,he needs to get back to full fitness ,i think he will start in the FA cup .

'Bellamy runs around like an headless chicken'....thats an intresting an opinion Ono.

When he looses the ball he's moving to try to retreive it, when he kops for the ball he moves....either way he moves...now all the team are doing Bellamy impressions and we're 5th.
I didn't say that. I didn't say anything about Bellamy running around like a headless chicken.

I was making a point that if Robinho did, the media would most likely cream their pants over him. They seem to have an obsession with work rate. whilst i agree it's nice to have, it's not every players game.

Robinho can't even shut people up with his goals. Last season he managed 15 but the same things were being said about him.

Great post mate.
However i think Robbie could have helped himself along time ago. Its been a week since the bellers rumours started about him not being happy and that he wants to move. He has already personally put the record straight and said he does not want to go. Yes robbie has done this, but not in the same way bellers has. He has done it straight from the off and not let rumours build up.
I think the problem with reporters and pundits alike, as long as the rumours havnt been quashed directly then they will run with them because they can make up whatever crap they like as long as its not settled.
As for bellers missing and placing poor passes, he will do that, hes not perfect and nor is robbie, difference is robbie does not track back his miss placed passes, robbie does not look hungry, chasing down players and robbie is the one coming out saying he wants to be the worlds greatest player, to do that you have to believe you can be, and show it game in game out, anyone can be good for one game. Ands if you can turn it on for your contry you can do it for us. I understand his confidence is down, but that should be behind him, start afresh. and maybe stop saying he wants to be the worlds best player and actually play like it, worlds dont make you brilliant. However performances do and that alone will shut the media up. I would love him to be great at city for the simple fact we have seen flashes of what he can do. But if he continues to play they way he has been, good luck to him and i hope he returns to better brazil where he can never come to haunt us, and enjoy a show boating club career and play his socks off in his international career, which needs no improvement. This is not an anti robbie post i want him to do well for us or atleast look like he's trying. Every city fan loves a tryer no matter what their skill.

Good post.

I agree he needs to show he can be the best on the pitch. Talent wise he's up there with the best but for me he lacks that change of pace that Messi or Tranny has. Playing on the left is hindering him a little now. He doesn't have the pace or strength to go outside and the right backs know this. They show him inside and then simply out muscle him. I'd actually love to see him play in the hole behind the strikers. I think he could be brilliant there.

Anyway getting back on point, i disagree about Robinho not looking hungry. He's been desperate to score and you only have to look at his face when we score to see how desperate he is for us to win and to challenge for things. I also think he chases and harries enough for an attacking player. You will rarely find a player who is technically excellent who will also have the work ethic of Bellamy or a Dickov. Those type of players use a work ethic to compliment or in some cases make up for a lack of technical ability.

I believe United fans have the same problem with Berbatov. His body language lets him down but actually when you look at the stats he covers just as much grass as anyone. I'd imagine it's pretty much the same with Robbie. We need to take him for what he is.

I honestly believe he can be a great at city. I think now is the time for every fan who has had their problem with Robbie to just give him that little bit longer to prove himself to us. I think mancini will try him in different positions and I think Ono you are right about that position behind the strikers. I think he would be amazing there. Mancini is not scared to make that tactical change, so i think we will see him being tested out in different positions as mancini will not want to lose him or see his talent go to waste.
NDJ is good enough to protect robbie like lomas and flitcroft did when kinky was playing, you would then have barry, petrov and one of three swp, bellers or ireland in mid and two main strikers. Mind you I dont think i would play that openly away.

Good thread this that i can wholeheartedly agree with... i cant get my head around why we cant use both Bellamy and Robinho in the team every week... we need them both because they compliment each other... we have two great strikers that has "to much" workrate... we need one that can excel in technique also... Robinho needs match fitness... its takes about the same time your off the injuried to get back to that and Robinho was away 11 weeks... lets give him the time he needs to get back to full fitness... everyone can see he isnt there yet...

I can guarantee that if Robinho had ballooned one over from three yards, missed an easy one on one opportunity, been the only person in the stadium not to notice that Stevie Ireland had no-one within thirty yards of him, failed to play in Garrido when the pass was straight forward, and generally given the ball away on countless occasions, he would have been crucified on here, and lambasted in the media. The Welsh Messi gets man of the match, because he tracks back and chases after balls he's given away in the first place. I'm used to fans favourite's getting an easy ride on here, and 'whipping boys' getting singled out. The media thing is interesting though. If we're not careful, they may well manage to get their way and see Robinho leave our football club. The sad thing is that some City fans will be celebrating.

awesome swerving pass ? get real
it was the only option he had and i,d hardly call it setting up a goal ! in truth tevez made it out of nothing.not really an assist in my eyes

I doubt there is a bigger Robiho fan on here than me, though I would love to have a debate over a pint over the issue.

That said, Bellamy at the moment is on fire and fully desrves all the plaudits he is receiving.

I have to admit I have never been a big fan of his, but keep putting in the shifts like he has then it wouild be impossible for any City fan to be negative about him. Could Bellamy and Robinho play together - maybe against a poor side that we want to wallop?
