Rangers thread 2020/21

A set of fans that showered Rangers Mark Walters with bananas and the only club in world football that have a twice convicted syrup wearing racist as a striker taking the moral high ground over racism.
How would you describe this, if not racist? Just banter? Geography not a strong pint with the doss **** who scrawled that as it's Korea and China who eat dogs, but hey ho.

I'd describe it as an appalling lack of knowledge of the variance in cuisine between different Asian countries.

"Nakamura ate my goldfish" now, that would have been a lot more accurate.

Slavia apparently looking to make a criminal complaint regarding assault, per BBC Sport.

A Rangers forum has found an image from Slavia hooligans saying "Kamara - Just a ******"

Just mind boggling.
If Kamara set about him I woukd say he was provoked into it and I would more than definitely done the same. However, I would be charged. That banner and excuse is utterly shite. The problem with the **** whispering in his ear in a legal context, is no one else heard it so proving he said that he did is problematic.. I have no doubt the racist **** did, but proving he did is an issue. For me Kamara battering the **** was justified. Unfortunately I don't enforce the law.

If he'd hit him straight away I'd say it would have been provocation and justified (heat of the moment). If he's waited in the tunnel for him after the game it's premeditated assault.

I agree. I myself didn't know the Japanese ate goldfish. Then again I wouldn't be scrawling a racist banner, and certainly not about cuisine, Japanese or otherwise. My great uncle was captured in Burma in 1942 and spent years in a camp. I suppose he woukd have been glad to have a few goldfish. Although I still wouldn't make a banner about it.

Many a barney happens in the tunnel.. I agree it make a it harder to avoid consequences. He probably should have just knocked him out on the park, but I understand how he could have lost it.

In my experience they seem to eat anything that swims (understandable, just like Iceland they're an island nation without much arable land) including a lot of things that we wouldn't touch, although I doubt they eat goldfish, but as with anything in that kind of vein, the less believable it is, the more likely it is to be seen as banter and not discrimination. Rags used to sing a song about Ji-Sung Park eating dogs and the dippers eating rats, don't think anyone ever saw it as racist tbf.

Any chance Rangers and Celtic can form their own breakaway league of 2?

They would still have the same chance of winning the title and they get to kick lumps out of each other every week.
How many English clubs would you say can win it? You have 4 realistically. Ten times our population, yet we have half that.

I'm just saying that's probably the way it'll be viewed by the police and judiciary. If you do something in the heat of the moment they'll consider the level of provocation but if you have the chance to step back and calm down and don't you'll be treated with far less leniency. There was handbags on the pitch, everything calmed down and they were on the field of play for a good few minutes afterwards. If he's then gone and hit him after they've left the pitch he's in trouble. The shit with the dresssing room doesn't help there either as if Slavia are in their dressing room it probably doesn't happen.

You're a white guy from Europe. Its not your shout. You woukd need to ask Sung Park how he viewed it.

That's fair enough, never saw any indication from club or player that there was a problem with the chant though.

I agree, good for him that it happened here. I can't see the Scottish cops charging him.

If you come out and say something you get more abuse. Look at Sterling et al..maybe they just let it go. And there lies the problem. Letting it go..

Will they be taking their oil with them?
Apparently Rangers fans dont want to leave, so the oil is safe. Although if you look.at the voting it's clear many vote for the SNP but keep it quiet. All of my bluenose pals do, putting a future without Tory rule before a Fleg.

It was on Saint and Greavsie at the time, Rangers fans were sending their season tickets back in protest to them signing Mark Walters as he was black.

As for Basil Basile Boli's warm reception...

Now they want to take moral high ground.

To be honest, all this whitaboutery is a bit futile. The problem is within football fans, sports fans, & society as a whole, there's racism, bigotry still evident. We know it happens now, never mind 30 years ago.

Each club / section of society has its own problems, it shouldn't matter if its 1% or 50% of the support. If decent people are coming out & condemning it, then that's more voices that might educate & swing that percentage in their favour, so their shouldn't be 1 upmanship as a way of point scoring.

If you really are anti racist, but the player or club making the complaint makes you doubt that in anyway, then are you really anti racist in the first place?

They are backed by a press who support them and forget to mention these things. So, they didn't happen. Nothing to see. Boli was black and catholic. Brought it on himself by being born both. Schoolboy error.

I agree with Kamara doing what he is alleged to have done. If he did it. As Aguero93:20 pointed out though, it will still be assault if there were witnesses.

Well, we'll no either way soon. I agree, if what Slavia is claim to be true, there will be & should be bad consequences for Rangers.

1 thing I don't quite understand though. They claim it was pre meditated, dressing rooms locked, cameras turned off, making it seem like they were trapped & the guy was basically a sitting duck & ambushed.

If that's true....why do it in front of a UEFA delegate? Surely, having a witness that's from the governing body would be highly stupid if this was a 'planned attack'. He also certainly showed no signs of being 'beaten' like the club are accusing when walking to the team bus.

Also, the video taken by 1 of the clubs officials of them all out on the pitch after the event joking around certainly doesn't seem like teammates & officials that have just had teammate badly beaten, you would imagine there would have been a bit more concern & anger at that.

Like I said, if it did happen, we deserve punishment. But considering they couldn't get their stories straight of what the player allegedly said, & the official line eventually of what he says makes no sense at all, & the club have a history of only last season denying / covering up racism towards Lukaku, you can see why I'm not really buying they're telling the full truth.
