Rangers Thread - 2023/24

People who watch football class Scottish football as backward because of the religious bigotry, without it more people would probably watch it in my opinion.

Or scarily it might actually die without it.
Rangers crowds went up year on year after signing Mo Jo.

My old man stopped going early 80s as he was sick of some of the songs. It was so much worse back then.

People are not interested in Scottish football as it’s dire. We are ranked fairly highly at the moment but that’s down to Rangers freakish results in Europe and that is unsustainable. We ll lose our UCL spot and a Europa League place in year or two

It’s nothing to do with sectarianism and more to do with lack of leadership in the game and serious lack of investment!

The best I can remember it was when Gazza and Gorum and Hateley played

Rangers crowds went up because of the Souness revolution.
Lets not make it due to a signing,a great signing that a lot of Rangers fans handed in their season tickets.
A massive and brave signing but please do not make out crowds went up because of this.

Nope. Holmes brought Souness in 1986 and the crowds went up. We didn’t sign Mo Jo until 1989 and from then on season on season our crowds grew even on top of the upsurge from the few years before.

There is a clip on YouTube of some sad bastard sitting at home saying he ll never go back. That’s always cast up but for that one sad bastard there was ten to take his place.

Now if we didn’t sign Mo Jo the crowds might have continued to increase but what they didn’t do was decrease as some suggested they would!

The Evening Times actually paid people to leave their scarves at the gates.

The only ones who took it badly was that other mob. They will never forgive him. I remember the cartoon in one of the papers of Mo Jo at confession. ‘Forgive me Father for I have signed’ At least some of us kept our sense of humour.

Great news. Was beginning to think he had had his head turned

Wee fact.

Rangers have conceded more penalty’s domestically than Celtic

This season Celtic have been awarded more penalties than Rangers.

Now anybody with a passing interest will be surprised at these facts readi g the media coverage.

Also Rangers were denied a perfectly good goal in the Old Firm game. Denied clear penalty against Killie. Both these decisions impacted on match result.

Celtic were awarded controversial penaltys against Hearts and Motherwell but little said. Again these decisions impacted on the match result

To be fair Rangers had a goal stand against Livi when it looked like Sima fouled defender. Rangers won that game comfortably.

They were also awarded a debatable penalty against Livi which had zero bearing on match result. In that game Rangers were denied a clear goal and a 50/50 penalty for handball. Media coverage after that game concentrated on the penalty decision that went in Rangers favour but was missed anyway.

It’s clear Celtic are where they are due to match officials consistently making ‘honest mistakes’ in their favour.

We shall overcome!!
