a local thug goes on the rampage, camps in local woods to hide away......

...... the entire armed UK police (circus) force take a week to find him....

.....locals in deckchairs, drinking beers and cups o'char whillst some old dear plays the organ, come out to take it all in......

.......drunk former football star turns up with beer, dressing gown and fishing rod, determined to talk gunman round......

:) . More or less sums it up for me with that post, according to the radio seems he was underground in the drains all the time, so the heat seeking devices couldn't pick him up and surely they could of flushed him out sooner. No one in the village was really safe after all, he could have popped up a manhole at any time with his shotgun while the police were in the woods.
