Re: Kompany's red card and appeal? (merged)

No hope in hell of getting this recinded. If the Milijas one didn't get overturned then Kompany has no chance. Add to that the fact that, by recinding the card, the FA are essentially admitting that an incompetant referee has caused the FA Cup holders to be knocked out, there's no chance.
Exactly what I was getting at!

If I am going to speak honestly here...

When the challenge occurred in the flow of the game on my TV, I thought it was a red because of the angle I saw it from. Once I saw a replay, never a red. Never. Having seen the slo-mo capture that is repeated over and over on the previous page, I am even more convinced that it was never a red. VK actually got the ball very cleanly and at the time the ball was on VK's foot mid-challenge, I don't really think he was truly coming "two footed", either. He was kind of sliding into Nani from an angle and his studs were not up. The problem is, I think the ref may have also seen the challenge in real time from a bad angle as well, which made it look worse to him than it was.

ALL commentators on Fox Soccer here in the USA said it was a bad decision. In fact, at half time, they said Foy had "ruined the game". For me, this is the real issue, because I think he did RUIN this match. Look at it this way:

1) Cup Tie
2) Derby (do I even need to state how big of a Derby? This was not a Luton Town - Watford M1, no disrespect meant)
3) Twelfth minute.
4) 1-0 scoreline as of two minutes prior to the challenge in question.

Then the official sends someone off from City. He spends the rest of the 80 minutes remaining handing out yellows to United players like business cards (four in all) because he's probably looking to even it up. He allows obvious fouls to go unpunished both ways because he has lost the plot AND lost control of the match. The final 80 minutes were an utter mess from an officiating standpoint.

To me, the official needed to take into account the entirety of the situation, and he didn't. Instead he turned what had begun as a spirited, energetic Cup match between longtime rivals into a potential rout. In my opinion, the officials should NEVER insert themselves into such a huge match in the manner Foy did today. It is inexcusable.

Believe me, I understand what so many of you are saying when you state that there is little chance that the FA rescind the card and sending off, but there is no way I'll ever call that a foul, ever.

Proud of my side today. In bitter circumstances, they acquitted themselves very, very well. When they had a defender sent off in October just after the interval, we cut them to pieces. When we had a defender sent off today, ten minutes into a Cup tie that was already at 1-0 to them, they squeezed out a narrow 3-2 win. The tide, fellow Blues, is turning. I do not fear them anymore. The ghosts are dead and the mental edge they held for so long (against most everybody) is on the wane. Who the fuck are Man United, indeed.

Nobody on here can tell me thats a sending off vinny wins the ball with one foot and the ball bounces off the other.
I love city with all my heart and have invested over 40 years of my life in the club, but I also love football as a whole and the game is being ruined by the shocking standard of refereeing.
Kompany has not gone in to hurt or injure the wingeing twat,he has won the ball as clean as a whistle with one foot the other leg is down to momentum of his body carrying him forward.
Angry can't even begin to explain how I feel about what happened earlier as I am really worried about what direction football is going.

Chris Foy the blue bindipper

Trying to find some info on the fuckin prick that ruined our attempt to ruin them red twats. A simple Google search proved he is a self confessed everton fan.

They have probably been in general the most bitter set of supporters in our progression. All makes sense now.
