reading tickets selling fast {merged}

Lisa Eaton - top lady FACT! This debate should have ended a long time ago. When 15k season card holders haven't purchased a ticket for a home quarter final (yes I know some will be upset with the relocation problems etc and some will have work commitments etc) then the club have done everything right. I wonder how many of those 15k will want a semi final or final ticket should we get there??

All of them no doubt !

If the club are that arsed about having empty seats on show to the cameras, then surely someone should be asking questions of the nobhead who decreed that the North Stand will be "family" only... and in the process has allowed hundreds of empty seats to be on show at every game.

I thought all this shit had ended when Bernard Halford was moved onto organising golfing day outs, but seemingly the new generation have simply carried on the baton handed to them by Bernard...

I'd normally say that heads should roll, but seeing as this type of action is as "typical City" as it is genetically possible, I somehow think they'll blame the fans like they usually do!

What implication does having people at the front have on revenue?

I'd argue that clogging up the phone system like they have, and only offering poor seats at times, has lost them revenue

The effect of having the lower areas brim full and with a good atmosphere is that it generates a better experience for the fans - especially fans attending for the first time - and it presents a better image for TV. The ground will have say 40k inside it but millions will watch it on TV and it's their support that we need to encourage because top level clubs can't survive on attendances alone . . We need the merchandising success that other top clubs have if we're to compete at the top level in future years . . I don't like all the effing about that this last little exercise have produced but I do recognise that it's very important to the club and to the fans who want success.
The phone system and ticket sale issues are another matter altogether. Not managed as well as it could have been and I'm sure that they'll learn from it.

Hmm. If it's about atmosphere and encouragement of new fans, then surely "Kids for a Quid" should have been the way forward. I bet it would be sold out by now if they'd done that.

Couldn't agree more Dave, and you know all those parents bringing kids along would be putting money behind the bars for food and drink, or even spending in the club shop.

kids don't need any more discounts, they get pandered to as it is.

i sat through division 2 they can sit through a fa cup quarter final ffs.

I have not read all posts on here, but dipped in and out every so often over the last 3/4 days.

I have to say, I am bemused as to what the issue is. It can't be that people cannot get seats - there are still plenty on sale on the site. The club gave all ST holders the opportunity to buy first, and I assume they did. I am a Citycard holder and I bought mine on Sunday am as stated. So we were given notice as to when they went on sale and we have the opportunity to buy them. Now, I guess due to high demand, further tickets are available.

Is it that people do not have the same seat they do for league games? We know folks will have to move due to the higher number of ticvkets that have to be offered to the away fans.

Clearly the demand has surprised the club (and for that we should all be grateful), but they have dealt with that by opening up Level 3.

I am sorry that some are so unhappy with the situation, but hope that this all becomes irrelevant when City beat Reading on Sunday and we get through to the first FA Cup semi I have been able to go to since 1980! Then people will really have something to moan about when the tickets are sold for that game!

i agree that the kids get pampered already ........ i remember snowy days on the open ends at york city, (lost 2-1 ) and Wrexham in the depths of the third division (in old money) ..................... and some fans cant get up for quarter final of the fa cup ffs !

It isn't about "pampering" it's about getting people in the ground who wouldn't be there otherwise.

Whenever this has been done in the past it's boosted the gate significantly. Obviously it has an effect on revenue, but I'm saying it could be a case of speculating to accumulate.

If you let a load of kids in for Norwich at home in the 3rd round of the league cup, they're invariably sat in a silent stadium , bored, watching our second string.

Do it for a game like this and they will hopefully go home with "the bug". And the ground is full.

so why not let the noisy adults in for a quid, give em half price beer and let them make a raucus and keep the kids happy?

instead of kids getting huge discounts when they sit in the exact same seat as an adult?
