real ale

I'm fairly new to the world of real ale. I've done the Stalybridge-Huddersfield-Dewsbury train crawl (recommended) and some good beers were had that day. My favourites so far have been; Marstons IPA; Brewdog 5AM Saint; Thwaites Wainwright; and Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted.

I did this a few weeks ago and it was brilliant. I'm not really an ale drinker either, but some of the beer I was drinking completely blew me away. I had a pint of Timothy Taylor's at Dewsbury and it was like nothing I've ever had before.

Mmmmmmm, I'd recommend a few bottles of this to any real ale fans, it's a cracker.

I'm a real ale lover, though I'd rather have a lager than a Smiths or Tetleys smoothflow rubbish that most pubs pass off as real ale.

Full of earwigs and bits of twigs. Drank by men with strange beards and bells on their feet.
I like my beer chemically cleaned, chilled and filtered.

While that stereotype is alive and well, it's a myth that all real ale, or as I prefer to simply call it 'Beer' drinkers are like that. Far from it.....just people who prefer to taste something other than ice cold and fizzy stuff that gets you drunk...and beer can be either 'light' as in % or can be so ridiculously high as to wipe the floor with generic lagers...
