Quite like a Porter. Ridley's Witchfinder is the tops in my book, it was brought back a couple of summers ago as a seasonal beer by Green King, who bought out Ridleys.
Also, another special from the little microbrewery in Bollington called Stormy Cloud of Amnesia (or something similar, I confess after 4 I could not remember much). Beautiful pint, around 6.5% I think but really didn't taste like it.
Harvest Rock straight from the Castle Rock brewery in Nottingham is a treat too, and the old Jennings brewery in Cumbria belts out quite a few excellent ones. Snecklifter being my personal favourite. The best pint I ever had was Snecklifter at the Travellers Rest after an 8 hour hike up Helvellyn and back. Bliss.
Not a huge fan of Robbie's beer, but Hatters is ok and Red Nosey is decent. My mates love Dizzy Blonde but I can't stand the stuff.
Two beers I have to mention for the imprint left on me, Imperial Russian Stout, which I swear is just stout with a good slug of vodka in it, and Orkney Skull-splitter. Both over 11%, both take some effort to finish the pint.
Also, this is a unique drink, served in a stuffed squirrel. Think it's been posted on here before, but just in case:

Which reminds me, anyone know any good on-line sources for buying real ale? Especially short productions and specials?
