Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

dont forget we missed 3 big leaders Gundo, KDB, Walker.

when Modric came on he showed what some world class skills and experience can mean in terms of playing without pressure even in a game of this magnitude.

if KDb is back next game he will have chances to play the ball in for Haaland (who got zero service yesterday once again)

Kovacic worries me, he really didnt add much was hiding a lot in possession and was not doing enough off the ball. we cannot carry him in big games like these, the drop off from Gundo to him is huge and with Nunes not trusted at all seemingly we now probably need to go and spend as big on a midfielder as we spent on Kova-Nunes together or even more which is something we should have done last summer.

just beat Luton now without new injuries, I bet Real will rotate few for their Mallorca game and might even change formation with Joselu up top for next game they may even start with Modric.
Fair summary and agree.

They know we are better than them
They also know they struggle at the etihad
It’s perfect for us now next week, fast start, great atmosphere and put these to bed
They knew we were better than them in the tunnel and you could see it, a couple of lucky goals got em ahead and credit where its due a fantastic equaliser, but look at their fans around 80 mins, they know going to the etihad and getting a result will be difficult for them, winning big at the bernabeau was what they were holding out for.

Just heard Darren Lewis on the news saying that Real should now win because we give them a chance with our defence. Yet Arsenals result v BM was positive, even though they now have to win away from home.

The mental gymnastics of these fuckers to ignore everything sensible is fucking insane.
it amazes me how darren lewis gets dressed in the morning without hurting himself.

We did a lot more than survive. From where I was stood the second half was wave after wave of City possession with Madrid playing on the counter. I don’t know if youve been to the Bernabau but it’s a huge intimidating stadium, very noisy despite them being plastics, and we bossed them in their own back yard, and there aren’t many teams who do that. It’s not as easy as fifa, what we achieved last night was gutsy and impressive. 62% possession at the Bernabau ffs
I meant we survived the first half after their second goal without further damage and I know that real professional football at the top level isnt FIFA :) And, no I've never been to Bernabeu yet, I'm sure you had a great time !

Pep is spot on. A few years ago after we went 2-1 tonight we would have lost that game 4-1 or something we normally collapsed in Europe. This is completely different now they feel calm playing these games. I’m v v confident next week

I don't think they were happy coming to the Etihad regardless of the score, after what happened last year.

Their fans don't travel so it'll be basically be a cauldron of blue, and after watching them give their best last night in front of their fans, I don't think they've got much else to give.

We've hopefully got Ederson, Walker and Kev to return, which should make us a different proposition.
3-1 on the night.

Actually no, fuck it. 4-0.

The third goal for them he could not have hit it anymore perfect, another occasion it ends up in the stand. All their goals were fortunate in that sense. They had their opportunity to put City away at 2-1 and didn’t take it and let us back into the game. They now have to climb the obstacle of going to the Etihad where they have never won and no team in the Champions league have experienced victory in nearly 6 years.

The plan is, and always has been, grabbing Paqueta from West Ham. Kovacic was just supposed to be squad depth for us but has been needed out of desperation.

I'm just confused on why we bought Nunes if Pep doesn't trust him to play in any big games. I still think there's a player to be unlocked in Nunes (unlike Phillips) but it just seemed like a panic buy went the Paqueta deal fell through.
