Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

I’ve said numerous times that when we get a throw-in, most times it would be better to commit a foul throw or just give the throw to the opposition, because they always seem to leave us vulnerable on the turnover.

And, lastly, FFS could we stop being Johnny Come Lately “crowd the keeper” on corners, because, esp in Europe, we get nothing out of them except a foul against us…even when we are being rugby tackled!

Tonight we at least tried a variation set piece, but Semenyo slipped and fucked it up!
Players slipping all night .... most of them, ours!

Reminds me a bit of England under Sven. Picking his favourites over who’s in form. Marmoush should have started that game last night. After his performance on Saturday just get him in the team!
That’s simply says to me that Haaland has to play and I not sure that is a Pep decision to play him

He is our global superstar

Yet he has been wank for months

And feck that bottle green kit off. I have that colour on garden furniture to blend in, our players are nearly invisible to each other. All I can say as I am not justifying that capitulation with an analysis;-)

I stopped watching just before half time and let the wife watch call the midwife ,There's too many of these shite performances due to these bizarre team selections now , things haven't been the same since that very weird performance in the United cup final nearly two years ago when the team looked my sons under 15 new mill juniors after a Saturday night party.

We were out-thought and out-played. I never expect that of our team, but it does happen occasionally.
Nobody played well, though you could argue that Doku and Rodri did despite a lack of support for both.
There is little point playing wingers unless your striker is attacking the six-yard box.
We were vulnerable to the counter and to their pressing. If they play a counter-attacking game next week then we will be similarly vulnerable if we play the same line-up. Nunes at RB and Khusanov at RCB will nullify that, as will a more physical presence in central midfield.

For me, that means a back four of Nunes, Khusanov, Guehi, Ait Nouri, with Rodri and O'Reilly or Gonz in front. In front of that, I would have Cherki, Doku, Savinho and Marmoush. Others will disagree but we will have to attack, but have the physicality to press, and to win the ball when it is turned over.

We do live to fight another day, but it will take a monumental effort to go through, and some luck.
Meanwhile, the BT commentary team will be loving it.
We need to attack but you're picking Savinho?!?

Don’t get how Pep after all he has done for us over these last 10 years has moments where he comes across as so bloody naive.
He has completely shot himself in the foot. We should have been compact at the very least, not recklessly expansive.

Suspect if Enrique took over he'd be out the door. He got rid of Messi and Mbappe. At least I hope so.
It's not doing us or Haaland any good. We are not a team that needs a static and technically limited number 9.
He is a wonderful goalscorer and that's why we have something of a dilemma. Totally change the way we play or get rid.

We used to pass teams to death until they were exhausted running after the ball, and then we would exploit those tired players and the gaps they were leaving, and score at will.

Now teams don't chase the ball. They drop back across the 18 yard line and pack the penalty area, whilst we pass the ball sideways and backwards aimlessly whilst hoping for the odd gap to open and to exploit.

Nico isn’t better than Rodders, obviously.

But you can’t play Rodders in a 2 with Bernie, we were lambasting Pep two seasons ago for playing Rodders in a 3 with Gundo and Kev!
Lack of protection for our back line has been a constant theme. I thought we had sorted this by playing deeper in our draw at the Emirates. It seems to be Pep’s weak spot. He wanted to blow Real away in the first leg. We have seen this movie before. The formation was the problem. What happened was no surprise to any City fan who watches games. I wonder what Pep Linders thinks.

I went to bed at half time, I just couldn't take any more. Was pleasantly surprised it stayed 3-0 because I genuinely feared a 5 or 6-0 coming. Nico O at left back after he'd been showing us what he could do in midfield was a crazy decision for me(Especially with Ait Nouri on bench)And why the fuck play that crazy fucking high line and gungho trying to win the game in the first 15 minutes? Absolute football suicide! And how long can we keep shoe horning Haaland into the team? Pep needs to show some balls and drop him like he has done with Foden. Savio and Semenyo looked lost and whilst Doku huffed n puffed(at least he had a go) the final ball,or should that be,the players in the middle weren't there. Midfield none existent and a defence looking like Bambi on ice! We're just not good enough I'm afraid. We've not replaced Kev and Gundo and boy is it showing.

Think it’s 140 corners in the league, no goals. Whoever the fuck our set piece coach is, is pulling wool over Pep’s eyes. I hope they don’t spend time on set pieces because I’d say they do fuck all.
Discussed the same with my Dad last night said I couldn’t recall a goal from a corner in the league was waiting for him to prove me wrong.

You’d really have to wonder when we have aerial threats like Haaland, O’Reilly, Rodri and the centre backs.

Who is buying him with the wages he is on?

Either we find another way of playing him, he puts the work in or we stuck

He will score goals obviously but nights like last night at the elite level he absent and it is not the first time

Rodri scored a header from a corner against Forest so just wondering where you get a figure of 140 from ?
