Real Madrid (A) - CL R16 Post Match thread

2-1 win at the bernabeu.
On this day 20 years ago we drew 1-1 at Chesterfield.

Makes tonight's result more than amazing.

We dug in, we kept going.
Fuck you UEFA, fuck you fat bastard Cyril Smith looking wanker tebas, the boys in blue just tuned you lot in.
I became a City fan in 1968 after THAT game in the snow against Spurs. I've been a Chesterfield fan since before my dad took me to to my first game as a kid. Now City are the best team in the land & all the world & CFC are in the relegation zone of the National League. Never forget how things have been & enjoy every single moment of joy you get from the game. Oh & thank goodness for City.

Just before the grab of the shoulder I also think Ramos clips Jesus' leg slightly as well which is the initial contact which casues Gabi to become unbalanced. The grab was just the proverbial icing on the cake.

At the end of the day he tried to be clever and got caught. It's the sort of challenge Fern would've done. He was a little unlucky but its a foul nonetheless. You cant blame him 3-1 and it would've been a huge advantage us.

I'm sure I heard Mammaanoman go ohhh in the same way you'd hear a man watching a video of his missus getting bummed as we won that pen. Shite commentary from bt
My missus was actually getting bummed when we won the penalty - but not by me I was too busy watching City bum Real Madrid

They are appealing the red card, let's see who has the bollocks to say jog on
I hope Ramos does play in the 2nd leg - no pace and a liability nowadays - someone said that’s the 26th time he has been sent off - that’s ridiculous even allowing for the fact he’s been there since about 1940

Sorry. When I said overturning 'that', 'that' meant the Ramos red card. I was very unclear.

hahaha ok matey

city have enough to beat them and its just getting into there heads they are on or a better level, we have to dream and (believe) win can win it

He clipped his heel which when running at speed will cause you to fall.
Had he not it was a straightforward goal scoring chance. Even if accidental it’s still a foul.
Never in a million years will that be overturned. If it is then somebody somewhere will be cheating, no ifs or buts. Let’s see if they have the bollocks.

i am not 100% you can not appeal the red card because of VAR they must have looked at and agreed with the referee, they shown it on BT and its not only a pull on the shoulder but also trip, nailed on red card and last man stopping a scoring chance good luck over turn that

26 times lol,he never learns,i think he is a bigger miss than benny is for us,jo might get a game although without eric we are open on that side anyway

That would be a mistake. Ramos is their talisman for a reason, he's scored a ridiculous amount of late or last-minute goals that have won Madrid big CL ties.

You never could appeal red cards in European competition.

yep they will have something up there sleeves but i think and pep should just play our best 11 and go for the kill ? mendy missing and maybe laporte will test our left side of defence
maybe a option is play 3 at the back or use cancelo on the left, pep has options and city at home we maybe cut open them more than the first leg
Mendy has his strengths, but so does Zinchenko and one of them is not giving the ball away cheaply.

what many don't see is the work off the ball rodri does and he is a man mountain big and strong and hard to push of the ball, ok maybe his passing is a weak point at times but you can see he is a thinking type of player and always wants the ball so i bet pep's first choice when he picks the team is rodri, and without the likes of rodri KDB and the rest would be working so hard that they lose the magic and them moments of magic that wins you games
I have to disagree with your suggestion that passing is Rodri's weak point. His passing stats are monumental. He made Prem history against West Ham - 178 successful passes from 188 attempts. In another game, can't remember who it was, I think he had a 100 per cent pass completion - from a high total number.
