Real Madrid (A) - CL R16 Post Match thread

I don't want to be that guy, but had we been on the end of the decisions Madrid were last night I'm sure plenty on here would be saying similar.
Maybe. Probably. Football support isn't exactly expected to be rational. If it helps, from a neutral's perspective they were good decisions. Or at least not very debatable decisions.

The difference is, you're not professionals getting paid to represent the club and speaking to the media.

I think Jesus could be a great left midfielder cum striker. He needs to play more on the left (if not as a striker) and he must NOT be sold this summer.
Hell he wouldn't look out of place as a left full back.
Very lucky to have this lad, problem with some City fan's, if you're not scoring then you're no good !

Need to give him time, but he hasn’t convinced me of late. He was shite last night. Kept giving the ball away in dangerous areas. He needs to learn how to turn with the ball faster.
Sorry but I'm going to have to disagree on that. Mentioned it before but both him and Gundogan were absolutely superb last night in their roles. They completely shut down their midfield 3 and Modric(who is their best creative player) didn't have a sniff.

In fact it led to Zidanes biggest mistake in the second half when he pushed Casimiro and Valerdere forward and dropped Modric back to try to get him on the ball more. Casimiro was shadowing Kev and after the switch Kev was given free reign and he absolutely bossed the last 30 minutes of the game

All that came about because Rodri and Gundogan were so good in the midfield

Rodri can't do it on his own as the lone DM against the better teams like Fern did. He will improve for sure but Fern is so so difficult to replace.

yep

you need time to adjust to the premier league lifestyle and pace and fitness needed, its like getting your 2nd wind and you start to coast, rodri will be a great singing and he will be a key player for city and even could drop back into the back line late on in his career

did we beat the great real madrid in their back yard last night. Not heard that much about it to be honest!

yep its all they are not a patch on the ronaldo teams and needs a rebuild ???? hahaha with who's money can i ask and what about the debt they are already fudging and hiding

You could argue that Ramos saved Real Madrid from going 3-1 down. It's a clear pull on Jesus's shoulder.

They have 1% chance of overturning that.

what many don't see is the work off the ball rodri does and he is a man mountain big and strong and hard to push of the ball, ok maybe his passing is a weak point at times but you can see he is a thinking type of player and always wants the ball so i bet pep's first choice when he picks the team is rodri, and without the likes of rodri KDB and the rest would be working so hard that they lose the magic and them moments of magic that wins you games

hold on matey its a 2 legged tie and things can change in a flash, ok city have the 2 away goals and the win but never count your chickens before they hatch

Just before the grab of the shoulder I also think Ramos clips Jesus' leg slightly as well which is the initial contact which casues Gabi to become unbalanced. The grab was just the proverbial icing on the cake.
Yep. As I wrote in one of my posts, it's one of those cases where the foul was more evident in real time than it was in the replays.

Sorry. When I said overturning 'that', 'that' meant the Ramos red card. I was very unclear.

Fuck off!

What decisions were they on the end of? The red card is cast iron, Ramos doesn't run across the back of Jesus accidentally just before the box, he's bringing him down and everyone (including Jesus) knows it. The penalty is nailed on and don't tell me you believe Jesus fouled Ramos?
I mean that's not what I said. I agreed with all the decisions. I just believe had we been on the end of those decisions the users of this forum wouldn't have been so keen to say how correct they were.

Still trying to get over how brilliant Gabby was last night. He has everything you need as a world class striker: fitness levels, pressing game, brave, technic, jumping and heading ability and a quality finisher. The lad has everything.

Scary thing he will only get better, has all the time in the world on his side, hopefully its with us.
