Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

We've had plenty of easy draws and ref decisions during Pep's era, just luck of the draw at times quite literally.
We've had Lyon and Spurs in quarter finals and that hasn't exactly worked out well for us.

We have a soft underbelly.
It's like Pep coaching the humanity out of players until they become automations and when they need to summon passion and mentality it isn't there.

Great for winning 38-game long league comps, not as great for knockout comps.

Funny thing about this is that we would probably win it with our weakest squad down the road, it's that way for some teams. Kind of like Di Matteo

and Tuchel's Chelsea.

It annoyed me when I could hear the City fans ole-ing with 5-10 minutes to go.
Hindsight..in the moment up v Real madrid...with your mates ..few ales and city ..dream for a piss about...but one eye on your goal admittedly

Pep has dropped some fucking clangers but not tonight mate. We played the perfect game, we've just been on the end of one of those classic sucker punch knockout ties. It's so hard to comprehend.

Think we all need to sleep on it and give it a few days to settle.
Thought his team selection was spot on, couple of players let him down. Win our remaining league games and the murderers won’t be lifting the league will they?

You'll get the usuals banging on about relegation (but we were shit then) and intimating we're spolt. But feel the same. Thought we'd left this ineptitude behind - but it's never far away.
With relegation you feel shit, but you go down because you deserve to over the season. You win the Prem because you're the best team. We're out because of a crazy two minutes and a deflection.

As gutted as we are you have to admire it.
You do, like you say three times all against big teams is not a coincidence. Compare what they've done to get to the final to the dippers. Just have to hope they have one more zombie resurrection performance left in them if they need it!

Hard to take but football happens like that sometimes. We can question the keeper, the defending in the last ten minutes or so but ultimately football can just do that to you sometimes.
What I think does stand out over the two legs is that when it matters, at the highest level, the lack of a striker has bitten us on the arse. We just never killer them off because we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.
I respectfully disagree. We scored 5 goals over two legs. We score plenty of goals, or at least plenty enough. We lost the tie because we conceded more goals than the opposition. That is down to the fact that our defence is aging, fragile and sits in front of a keeper who is great with his feet, but has the hands and conventional goalkeeping prowess of Mary Berry.

course it’s pep….. thought we were coasting took mahrez rodri off and brought a panzy on and 37 yo….. but NOT peps fault…….
Tbh, that’s the most disappointing part of tonight Pep taking off our best player . Rodri was a magnificent tonight. As for Sterling that’s not peps fault, that’s down to Sterling for being utter garbage when we needed him the most.
