Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

I'm only just emerging... I've taken the day off work & avoided all contact with the outside world because the hurt is so fuckin deep.

Moments before their equaliser I wondered if it was safe to dare to dream of Paris & then **BANG**! From then I knew it was over. When their 2nd went in my body went cold. When they got the penalty I felt sick.

We did what we needed to & Real were poor overall, but I knew the attacking threat they posed & their ability to score a goal out of nothing was going to present a danger until the final whistle. Don't get me started on 6 fuckin minutes either!

Bernardo was far & away my MoTM. He was everywhere & ran the show. The whole team were brilliant overall, but there was something off with KDB all night & I predicted he'd be substituted because he looked fucked after 15 minutes.

For their first goal, Ederson waited for the ball to come to him & in a flash Rodrygo stole in & turned the ball past him. For their aggregate equaliser, he rose like a fuckin salmon & not even a brick wall was gonna stop that bullet header. For the penalty, I swear Dias's studs touched the ball, but VAR gave it.

To get to within 8 mins of the Champions League Final with no strikers & such a small squad is nothing short of amazing. Hopefully we'll resolve the striker issue, get a world class CDM & a right back as understudy to Walker because I see Cancelo as a better Left Back than Right.

I'm gutted, but it's gone. Newcastle is a massive game on Sunday, & it would have been regardless of last night's result. We gotta pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, lick our wounds & go again.

We were by far the better team, but in football you don't win points for performances, it's all about putting the ball in the onion bag. In this respect Real did it 6 times & we only managed it 5. There's our problem & it's been our issue for the last 2-3 seasons.

Last night was the epitome of a match where a world class strikeforce would have created something from nothing & possibly made the difference. We'll hopefully plug these holes for next season. For now it's all about Newcastle. )(

Last night showed just how weak and unbalanced our squad is,and how vulnerable we become when a couple are missing.

We have never replaced Aguero, took far too long to find Dinho's,and we lack quality outside of the first choice fullbacks. An abundance of attacking midfielders,in favour of the latter, was always going to bite us on the arse.

Its mind blowing, and so fucking frustrating,we have arguably been Europe's best team over the past few seasons yet we have no trophy to prove it.......our ability to implode needs urgent attention - and no one from the board room to the cleaner should be immune.

My main concern is that as disappointed as i am,i am not at all surprised.
You're right, but we've moved on to the man up rallying calls and Henry V speeches now - as good as they are.

Holy smoke ?? Just breath and let lungs fill up with air

digging players out is not good and digging world-class players that have won title and cups is also not good
it's a team sport and the WHOLE TEAM win or lose together, that's football
They are not world class though are They?? That's the problem, you really think Cancelo and Laporte are world-class defenders surely not.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this the most wounded I’ve been after a result and that includes relegation games etc.. . To be so close and throw it away is very hard to take. I don’t even blame anyone I think it was the footballing gods shitting on us.
I had reason to be disappointed despite our narrow win last week . Somehow we need to lift ourselves for Sunday because the players need us more than ever . Imagine how they’re feeling ?

i just keep thinking that for the £100m we spent on grealish, we could have brought in 2/3 top players for positions that we actually needed strengthening. The recruitment at times has been seriously questionable.
our recruitment over the years has been very good. You only need to look at the trophy haul to see that but I think a bit of complacency has crept in especially in the last transfer window. Anyway at the end of the day the CL is only a cup competition and you need a bit of luck along the way to win it. Let's hope Real Madrid beat the scousers we win the League and Chelsea win the FA cup. At least that scenario will put a sock in the mouth of them arrogant cnuts 30 miles west.

I read an article recently - I think it was Sam Lee - who gave stats about how much the ball is actually in play for each club's matches in the league this season. It was a painful read.
When C4 televised Serie A games on a Sunday they always chalked up the ball-in-play time. 'Twas the exception if the game got to over 60minutes of the being in play!
