Stop the “reactive” defending we play.

We rely on the natural abilities of a small handful of players to save us. We play too high risk against the top, top teams, because Pep has one mindset.

Once we scored in the 73rd minute, Ancellotti went full on attack, replacing his entire first choice midfield with young kids who could fight and win midfield battles.

REALLY??? Was THAT where we felt we need fresh legs???

And, when we brought them on, we put them both on the same side of the field, with Sterling ahead of Grealish, as our left midfielder!?!

We LITERALLY don’t know how to shutdown a game against quality opposition, because the “attack is the best form of defence” is Pep’s MO. The problem, of course, is that when our backs are to the wall, we look disorganized, at sixes and sevens, and no one is quite sure who is supposed to be doing what!

Thankfully, there are very few games where we have to defend, backs to the wall, but we ALL KNOW we are fragile under offensive pressure, and our keeper gives half of us the heeby geebies when the ball is at his feet under pressure OR in the air under pressure!

Pep needs a defensive coach that he will listen to! Attacking has never been our problem, but when we do attack in numbers, we leave the back door open 9 times out of 10, with good fortune and decent defenders saving our skin…or the fact that we score more than they do!

That luck ran out in the 90th minute at the Bernabéu.

Cant agree on that, we had almost 11 City players behind the ball at both Rodrigo goals. but doesnt matter how many are in the back if they dont mark properly, dont try to block corsses properly and or forget the offside line...

we did not concede the two rodrigo goals because we were not defending with numbers at the back. City players were all back, they were not counter attacks any sort of...

here is a pic, first Rodrigo goal, all 11 City players within 20 meters of Ederson, Benzema about to receive cross from other side. if cancelo can react quicker and hold the offside line its a different story, but all City players are i the picture they were not wondering around on Real's half...

You can fill an 18 yard box full of players, but if they are not ACTIVELY DEFENDING, then they’re lawn ornaments!

No. There is no detail, other than in his head he dreams he’s not a defender, but a world class attacking midfielder! Yeah, I know!

And today he woke up out of CL over his lack of discipline.

KDB had a week off since he didn’t play last weekend. He should have been well rested. He looked gassed from the 20th minute. Not peps fsult

Have you seen the equipment used to monitor players during training and games?

Pep would have been fully aware of KDB's condition, and opted to play him.

Given that many fans have expressed doubts over the shape and general level of fitness of KDB this season, I suspect that Pep gambled on him making an early impact.

KDB has clearly been playing at less than 100% all season. If he's been declaring himself fit (as he is believed to have done in the past for Belgium), Pep may well be overruling technical information.

Just shows he may have a lack of trust in his squad imo, and is desperate to win the CL.

Weird how we were doing the complete opposite yesterday. There we’re plenty of occasions where we could run it into the corner but instead we were taking into the box. Only Pep knows what the hell was going on.
