Football is not an exact science and the minute people realise that we might get somewhere. If it was, the team that cracked it would win every match and every trophy every year. Pep did nothing wrong, Grealish did nothing wrong, and under the circumstances in a difficult arena against serial winners, nobody else did. They didn't have a shot on target until the 90th minute FFS! Get real! 99 times out of 100 we win that, just now and again the gods shine on the other team and they get the bit of luck that's needed. Even their fans weren't expecting it, they were leaving. If this were the norm they wouldn't have been because they would have expected it.

People talk about Mbappe but if the chips are down he goes AWOL. PSG haven't won it. You could change all 11 players and play the best game you've ever played and still lose. That's why the league title is hardest to win, you have to do it over 38 matches, not half a dozen. RM don't have any great competition in La Liga at the moment that's why they won the league by 15 points. We were the better team throughout, there's no way over 180 minutes they deserved anything from that tie over the 2 matches, and most times in the same circumstances that's exactly what they'd get.

The only other thing I would add is a decent referee would have seen them down to 10 men in the first half, and then you have a different match. Or Walker wouldn't have got injured. Or Courtois wouldn't have had one of his best games. These are the things that make a difference, it's about fine margins, not Pep, Grealish or whoever else you people want to blame this week. I know we're all upset but don't do the team a dis-service, they don't deserve that. This is a team that given us more than we could have ever dreamed of back in '99 when we were scrapping in the play off final to get out of the 3rd division, and the way it happened last night makes it seem 100 times worse, but you couldn't swap this period in our history for anything. Enjoy it while it lasts, if you're waiting for us to get the perfect team and clean up every season you're going to be very disappointed.

It's a fraud of a competition, designed to attract football tourists and benefit the UEFA 'elite'. It attracts little interest from most regular supporters until the knockout rounds. You only have to look at the level of take-up for the CL scheme by season ticket holders.

Domestic competition is infinitely better. I'd much rather City be champions of our own country than winners of a bent competition.

It's called a difference of opinion lad, it's not "rubbish". It seems a very strange take to consider it corrupt and unworthy of our attention when this forum obsessively bangs on about the other clubs in this country trying to shaft us. Remember those letters written to the Premier League by rival chairmen? How often do forum members wail in paranoia at how the likes of Oliver, Dean, Taylor are against us in their officiating? How often do we moan about our own media, i.e the ones reporting on the Prem on a weekly basis, cosying up to a select few clubs who play in red? Set out to find "corruption" and you will find it anywhere. It's confirmation bias. It's also strange because every City fan I've spoken to, friends and family, is desperate to see us lift it. We've plateaued as a club and the only we can break through that plateau is by winning this trophy.

I just can't get my head around some of the antipathy. Anyway, let's just agree to disagree. And hopefully you're wrong, hopefully I won't be dreaming a long time and we lift Big Ears sooner rather than later.

Astonishing semi final tie overall,to be ahead by 2-0,3-1,4-2,5-3, 4 times holding a 2 goal lead and not win has left me numb with shock.
Refereeing was awful,we really are up against it versus the history boys in this European royalty bollocks that the Scousers and Real Madrid harp on about.It’s quite plain we aren’t wanted at the top table,so will make any eventual victory so much sweeter.It’s a competition that we almost seem too naive to win yet fight well against dark forces to get so deep into the competition.Our time will come,let’s hope the team can win these last 4 league games to deservedly win the PL,a much harder trophy to win.

I'm certainly not desperate to win it. I'll take league titles every day of the week.

We handled them superbly for 90 minutes. The Pep masterclass eulogising was being readied. The pundits were wanking over a City v Dippers showpiece.

Then it just went completely pear in an absolutely mental last 2 minutes. You cannot blame Pep or anyone in particular for that. Shit happens and it can be a very cruel **** when it does.

We are literally on the verge. Get some actual strikers in, man the fuck up, and go and win the **** next time.

You make the mistake of looking at the competition as whole.

Any manager worth his salt will tell his players to take it one game at time.

motivation to win the game in play when the pressure is on. Without it, more often than not you lose. It’s that simple.

Madrid were more motivated. Ancelotti had them believing they’d win. first goal cemented that belief. They took that motivation and won.

Countless lower league clubs do it every year! The so called giant killings! The motivation to win and cause an upset gets them through.

Why do you think that a half time team talk from the players and manager can have a huge effect in so many games?

Villarreal 1st half against Liverpool the night before clearly more motivated to win.

Pep shouldn’t need to put a shirt on, he should of already got in their heads and made them believe that they could win at all costs.

He cleaned up domestically at Bayern, yet couldn’t get them over the line in this competition. It can’t be the players fault there as well because Hansi flick came in and won it!

He had the motivation with barca, it’s his club, and it transpired into his players and the rest is history

the Wembley 99 side were that motivated that they refused to bottle it even after it looked gone!
