Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

Ive always prefered to win the league to the champs league but im grown up to know the club NEEDS the champs league and at that we are failing badly . Year in, year out

Agreed.. league is always my preference but there comes a time when we need to step up in the European competition and mix it up with the elite.. we just keep fucking it up and I’m not sure why.

We don’t seem to learn Lou, not in the CL.

To be fair a few times in the past, its been Pep overthinking. Tonight was just pure naivety. Christ we are the weakest team in the world mentally and even we know when to time waste, hence our criticism in the media lately

Its lovely to be known for the pure football but you need a horrible, sly shitty side too - time waste, play act and run the clock down.

The Gorilla in the living room is that our team is mentally weak.
We are aesthetically pleasing and technically superior to any team but we've been prone to getting blown away in short periods of games. That is and always has been Peps achilles heel against the very best teams in the CL.
Liverpool have done it to us, even Spurs, and now Real.
This team does not produce the 93:20 moment.
I love Pep but we folded like a sack of wet shit there at the end.

Its a big task now to win the PL after this but if we fold there too I think the implications are too horrendous to contemplate.

Still rather have Pep than that Gurning tool Klopp. Lets hope Don Carlo can get his 5th CL win.

I think at the point it went to extra time we were fucked, and for me the blame for that lays mainly with the players (more than pep) they bottled it. But I'm sorry that's never a pen, or am I just being biased?

It's weird obviously I wanted to win the thing, but for me the league has always meant more. The thought of Liverpool doing the quad makes me feel sick and feel like that looks like the most likely finish to the season now

He played well for 89 minutes but hate to say this is on Dias. Let his man ghost in for the first, didn't attempt to even jump for the second and that challenge for the penalty was moronic at best.

Bad, bad day at the office but can't take our eyes off the weekend.
Yeah said that, sloppy defending for all 3 goals from Diaz. Madness how any of the two chances for Jack go in and it's a different result. Luck of the draw

When you get beat - like the cup semi - it makes you angry but you can move on. When you beat yourselves in a game that's won, fuck off. Walker was a warrior, Bernardo was incredible. Others, step up man - Foden meant to be on of the best kids in the world (which I agree with) well fucking show it then
I think that was a baffling decision tonight Foden on the wing and Gabby in the middle would have been far more effective - both were completely nullified by the swap

Ok, I’ve done my positives and now I’ll tell you that I cried at the result. But not because I felt the team didn’t try but because of all the angst and anguish and upset to every City fan. But we’ve been here before and tomorrow I’ll probably feel better about it. For now I’m going to bed and I apologise to @Johnny Mars Bar and @Psychedelic Casual I just always feel if the players are on the pitch they are fighting to win. I’m sorry I shouldn’t really have responded JMB.

Good night folks. You know what they say: Tomorrow’s another day. (I think that was from a film).

“Luck”, does…not…exist!

Luck is what the weak minded attach to things in hindsight because they don’t understand or can’t accept that they weren’t good or wise enough to not put themselves in the situation where they think they’ve been unlucky or others lucky.

Pep has been short in squad depth and strikers ?? This is what killed us this season
also, we don't know how to use the dark arts of killing the game off with fake injuries and getting the ball in the corners like Madrid did in extra time ?

Still proud of the lads and will have to take it and go again
