Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

Pretty sure Pep knows that. It's why Alvarez and hopefully Haaland will lead our attack next season along with Phil. With Gundo and Ferna no longer regular starters, we need top quality coming in and competition. If someone wants to be ruthless, there's Rice - 'almost' has the all-round midfield game - box to box, deceptively fast, skilful, tenacious, complete range of passes and a nasty side behind that jokey cockney reality tv show exterior. On the downside, his scoring record is piss poor. His arrival might also affect team morale. Would cost the earth in a position we already have an outstanding player in.

How would Jesus react to Alvarez and Haaland coming ? He'd probably want to leave.

Kevin isn't past his peak - was carrying an injury last night - and is now at his peak. And talking of 'peak' all Liverpool's best players are around the 30/31 mark -they'll all drop off a cliff at the same time. With us there's a decent spread of youth and experience.

I'm happy with our back four - four from six really.
I'm not sure about Rice, i think Bellingham would be better, he's more of a box to box type which our suad hasn't really got at the moment.

Also not sure about letting Jesus leave, his work ethic is perfect for Pep's team, i would like to see Palmer get more minutes and so i'd be looking to getting rid of Sterling and Mahrez.

I like our back four when they are all fit, but have concerns over Laporte and especially Cancelo, he's just not a defender, so i'd look to bring in a left back also.

Ok so there are good bits, consolations yes, but they are there. Last season we won two trophies, how good did we all feel last summer? Er that’s it, fucking gutted. imagine a final against that lot, I mean fuck sake, even if we win it’s still unbearable. They are awful, cultish, twats. What do the cult want more than any Corrupt Cup? The Premier League, IF and I hope we do, if we win the league, any euro cup will be a consolation and they will go into it flat. I fancy Real to beat them, and if the cult finish with one or two domestic cups and we finish with the league how good will that feel. Think of that.

Well, Jack was the one who took the Madrid defence on and nearly scored twice. Sterling was like a headless chicken. I think Jack came of age last night.
Agree, we’ll apart from not stopping the cross for their second. But, he could have been a hero, if just for one day!

86th minute, Somehow Mendy blocks the ball on the line and somehow it misses Foden, then Courtois makes an amazing save with his feet. Small margins again go against us. Madrid score with there first two attempts on target in injury time and then Madrid get the inevitable penalty. Then Courtois makes an amazing save from Foden and Ferna just cant wrap his foot around it to equalise. The smallest of margins.

We player really well, but the injuries to Kev and Walker cost us, yes Walker was a gamble but it worked and the subs were the right subs at the right time. We controlled the game and somehow we lost the game, that is football and its why its such a thrilling game.Yes its another disappointment in the CL for us and again i reiterate it was the smallest of margins that went against us. Its not the first time its happened and it wont be the last I fear.

Yes we can complain about the referee but overall i thought he had a good game apart from the yellows Casimero deserved and it was a penalty. You have to admire Real though, they have now done this to PSG, Chelsea and to us, maybe the belief they have that the trophy is theirs plays a part.

Now we have to pick ourselves up and win the league, that is going to be hard, the lads gave everything last night and it will be deflating. its an examination of character and as long as the lads show the same character as they did they last, we will win it.
Great Post.

The only thing more laughable than this post is the fact that 3 people liked it. Utterly deluded. Name 3 keepers who are better and would suit our play
Claudio Bravo with a long kick.

Goalkeeping is mainly about making saves. Ederson benefits from being in a team that dominates possession, so he doesn't get exposed to many shots.

He'd be a joke character at a mid-table club. He's very lucky to be playing under Pep.

Our current group of players have four games left to deliver what I and many other Blues consider to be the most important trophy.

Win the PL or not, in my opinion, significant changes are needed to update and improve the squad for next season.

On what the club and staff will have considered to be the most important night of the season, a few players demonstrated very clearly that they're either not up to it mentally, or simply aren't good enough.

Cancelo - Inconsistent, indisciplined angry little man. A very average defender whose main contribution to City has been to mask/delay the our continuing need for a proper left back.

Laporte - Just not good enough. Potentially weak character. Can't be trusted. Proved that when he opted to play for Spain when France didn't pick him. Nathan Ake is a far more reliable defender.

De Bruyne -.Went into hiding last night when most needed. Completely overshadowed by the RM midfielders. Certainly nothing like a leader and shouldn't be anywhere near the captain's armband. World class? Not any more he's not. We'll be lucky to get one more good season out of him. I’ve said it before; Ward-Prowse would be a great replacement, and would flourish at City.

Sterling - Time to go. One good game in ten, rarely looks like he's interested. His cameo last night may well have been his last game, he was weak and shockingly poor. Cole Palmer would have been a better option.

Mahrez - Cash in if clubs are offering good money.

Jesus - Another angry little man. Just not good enough against strong, organised defences. Needs to move abroad to improve his game, because it's not developed in the PL.

Bernardo Silva - The bloke is either becoming too good for City, or City aren't good enough for him
If a few players matched his workrate and showed half his passion for the game, we'd have won the CL for the last two seasons and be looking at a third this month.
He would be running the show at a club like RM, and would most likely win both the CL and Ballon d'or within two years.
The best footballer at City by miles. If we don't strengthen the squad considerably in the summer, he could/should be looking for a move.

Foden, Grealish - Not ready for top level yet. Very raw and need another year or two to develop. Foden has been overplayed, Grealish has been overwhelmed by the big move.

Ederson - The Curate's egg. Good in parts (distribution), less good in others (shot stopping). He's been lucky to be playing behind a team who dominate possession in the PL.
That said, there are few better than him at what he does and he fits in for Pep. That's why he'll still be with us next season

Anyone who thinks Haaland is the missing piece in the current squad could be in for a nasty shock. We need fresh young blood, players with genuine hunger and strongmentality, to maintain current levels and improve on them in the next three years.

Is Pep the man to lead the change? If the club still wants to prioritise the CL, I'm genuinely not sure he is. Change is necessary at player level next season imo, and it's going to take someone with fresh ideas, who's likely to be around for longer than two or three years, and doesn't have a monkey on his back.

You're going way too far, calm.

Ward Prowse. Have a sit down. You've had a shocker.

Its a roller coaster being a city fan . Let's hope come Saturday night time were still top knowing if we smash Newcastle the leagues as good as ours .

Most fans knew at the business end of the season no striker would bite us . Semi tie as a whole v madrid, Liverpool Cup game . So its played out as expected.

Let's just hope we can fall over the line with the league its the difference between a good and a shocking season these 4 games

The thing is Ederson is an anomaly, he's incredibly good with his passing and distribution, brilliant under pressure but a very average shot stopper.

He's the perfect keeper for the way we play, but would be average at another team. There's no other keeper in football I can think that is better than Ederson with his distribution and passing but then there are many better shot stoppers than him.

Typical City is alive and well sadly.
Should have won, didn't.
Regardless of the ref making loads of bizare non-decisions last night and not sending a Real player off after a rather wreckless challenge, we are the architects of our own downfall.
We don't score enough goals from the good chances we create. 1 in 10 last night. Real scored 3 from 5.
Hopefully that will change next season.

So 8 players and a manager you don't think are good enough ,yet we are 4 wins from our 4th title in 5, the players carrying us ( Just Bernardo from what you've posted ) must be doing some fucking heavy lifting.

Ederson isnt even top 3 in the premier league. He’s a below average shot stopper which as Liverpool and United show makes a huge difference.

His play outside the box, coming off his line is good. with his feet hes the best ever.

but is it enough?
And I ask people again, can you name 3 players who, a) are a better all round keeper, b) most importantly, can fit in with our style of play (as you said above, play outside the box and also distribution)?

Ederson epitomises everything that this great team of ours is. Talented, humble, hard working, commited and successful. He makes a few mistakes like all players do (ratio probably being about 0.25%) and people want his head.

It pains me how many city fans have almost turned every bit as bad as rags and dippers in terms of expectancy and sense of entitlement. Things take time, people make mistakes, everyone has to learn from experience not just be fucked off because they make a few errors (in some people's opinion)

Have you seriously suggested we replace De Bruyne with Ward-Prowse? If this post isn't a piss take it has to be in contention with the worst post in site history.
De Bruyne played like a shithouse last night. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Pep would have preferred to see Ward-Prowse out there instead.

De Bruyne isn't the game changer he should be. We need fresh legs.
