@DuffofBrentford: Breaking: Real Madrid will get financing for 400 million euro Bernabeu stadium redesign from Abu Dhabi's $68 billion IPIC oil fund.

What's the source of this funding then?

IPIC - The back of the Sheikh's couch.

Re: Real Madrid & Abu Dhabi

IPIC is the International Petroleum Investment Company, formed by the Abu Dhabi government in 1984 to invest in the energy and related sectors across the globe. Today it manages a portfolio of investments in more than 18 leading companies across the hydrocarbon value chain, including exploration and production, shipping and pipelines, downstream retail and marketing, petrochemicals, power and utilities as well as industrial services.

Re: Real Madrid & Abu Dhabi

Jokes about our owner pulling out notwithstanding, this has got to be a good thing for us surely? If Abu Dhabi have an interest in arguably the biggest club on the planet then you would think that UEFA and their G14 cronies will be less inclined to find ways of screwing us over regarding FFP, etc.

Is there anything in this?

I don't think so tbh, IPIC and ADUG don't seem to have anything in common bar the Abu Dhabi connection, one's flagship investment (ADUG) the other is a fund for renewable energy development and we already knew that the Sheikh and Perez were on good terms.

Real Madrid agree ‘strategic partnership’ with Abu Dhabi

Note: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Chairman of IPIC

The news:
Real Madrid have agreed a long-term strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Co (IPIC) which it expects will strengthen the club’s status as the world’s richest and also help fund a planned stadium overhaul. Both parties have agreed not to divulge the length or the value of the deal, IPIC said. The agreement includes setting up Real museums and expanding the club’s global footprint of football schools, as well as creating content for digital-media platforms, IPIC, which is owned by the Abu Dhabi government.

This might be important move by his Highness, the question is, How City can benefit from such strategic relationship?

Perhaps he feels he needs another "toy".

It hasn't got anything to do with City.
