Whether the winger likes to cut in or go down the line doesn't really have that much effect on the defender, they're at a level where they can defend with both feet, its a minimal advantage if they're coming in onto their stronger foot more often than not but it's not that big an issue. The big issue is as you say positional play, having to completely invert your game can be easy for some and a nightmare for others. If stones and walker are unavailable then whoever we put there won't be used to it, Ake's the best natural defender from the limited options we have so you'd have to assume he would fit best there but who knows, maybe peps seen differently in training.If Vinicious is right footed and prefers to cut in onto his right foot, then Aka should play left back. We need someone there who is a good positional player. Anyone who has never played there before would be a disaster. Madrid may be aging but they are good pros.
