The main things to take from that are
Fitness wise we look on target which was a bit of a worry given we seem to be a little behind other premier league teams in terms of games played.
The fullbacks seem integrated into the team and the setup already.
Ederson needs to get his communications sorted asap, a few instances where it was fairly clear he doesn't know enough English yet. Shouldn't take long for him to brush up on what's needed though.
3-5-2 is an option. Leaves a few players missing like Sane but it's a different way of playing and i suspect we'll use it on numerous occasions, particularly away in big games.
It also leaves us with a possible solution if we don't bring in another forward and we're short upfront. 4 players in Aguero,Jesus,Sterling and Sane for 3 positions isn't enough in last years preferred formation but in a 3-5-2 only two of them play, would surely however need another signing at fullback/wingback and unless Mangala stays a CB too.
Enjoyed that far more than I expected.
Only a friendly but lots of very good signs.
Ps. Commentators making excuses for Madrid at the end were pathetic "Madrid may have had a hard session yesterday and City may not have". ****s.
Very plausible. It's a common pre-season tactic to train the players hard the morning of the game and then ask them to play later that day, it's a good conditioning exercise. Their starting 11 definitely looked on their arses from half time onwards whereas we still had legs and punished them, similarly to how United punished us at about 40 minute mark in the first game when we looked knackered.
