This backfired massively, because De Gea had a clause in his contract that he would have parity with the highest paid player at the club. So he immediately got a massive pay rise.

Sanchez turned up, and they already had Rashford and Martial playing off the left. Sanchez found himself not even first choice, because Jose didn't want him. He ended up playing striker behind Lukaku, coming on as a sub.

This was someone who had just scored 30 goals the previous season for Arsenal. He was better than all of them. But when you don't show someone the love, they give up.

He would have been a legend at City. Playing off the left, with Aguero through the middle. Mahrez on the right. Goals galore.
