Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

I reserve the right to change my mind with replays but I thought he got a lot of supposedly minor things wrong in spurs favor prior to the Grealish thing at the end. For example no card for kicking the ball away after their goal. Foden held back in first half and there players falling over each other in the box under press only to give them a free kick

Fortunately it won’t, will still win the title in the end after an inevitable 20+ game run after Xmas.

Looks like Hooper has assumed Grealish is off and thinks he’s done the right thing by bringing it back. He’ll end up dropped for the midweeks I’m sure.

Once again though, it’s just beating the same old drum, the standard of refs in the PL right now is unacceptably poor. They have so much money floating around the game and *this* is all they have to choose from.

Thing is, with all the scrutiny on them and the allegation of corruption every time they make a mistake, I’m not sure anyone that could be fully competent would ever actually consider being a pl referee!

No, that's not happened. Hooper has assumed Grealish is onside, because the Assistant Referee kept his flag down. In any case, the protocol is to allow play to continue and check for offside if a goal is scored.

Staggering decision.
We await the bull shit reason why he stopped play as PIGMOL make up an excuse as we speak ……..
Be banned from this weeks games but back for next week Jack may have fallen over the fkin thing we ll never know but he may have also smashed it in Disgraceful an only ever us Even Akanji going down to grab a pen (awful) but fkin Salah gets that Sick to death of it all

Think he thought the pass was overplayed and wanted to blow as quickly as possible to bring it back. Clearly he got that wrong though.
Why are we making excuses for what was a blatantly corrupt decision? Don't try to second guess Hooper's thinking, let him or his bosses come out and give their explanation.

The assistant wouldn’t be putting his flag up for several seconds anyway as in the first half when Spurs were miles off and the flag didn’t go up.

Hooper should’ve given himself a second to think and/or ask his assistant, the second he blew the whilst he probably kicked himself and I’m sure he will get dropped for it.

If they were paid enough money you’d have plenty of people wanting to go into refereeing. The top refs are earning £80-100k a year, which obviously isn’t bad, but of the 22 players out there today, how many are earning under £100k/week, let alone a year…..

Pay the refs £500k a year, have the clubs chip in some change from the back of the sofa and kids and young refs might actually consider sticking with it when they’re being abused every weekend.
