Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

There was a time in the first half when a City player picked up the ball in our own half and broke quickly with the ball, 3 spurs players slid in to tackle and each time swung through the trailing leg trying to bring him down. It was only through really exceptional skill that he managed to evade it and carry it on. All 3 should have been bookable tackles but were waived through because he avoided them. Poor officiating didn't go back and book them.

How many more yellows before Rodri is banned for the March games against United, Liverpool and Arsenal?

May be worth managing it and deliberately getting a few in already-won games in February so he doesn't miss those. Use their own rules against them :)

He’s on seven in the league. So three more before and including game 32 for a two match ban.

Looks pretty inevitable at some point the way it’s going.

It’s my one and only criticism of him really. Those little pull backs he likes to do when a player is past him, are virtually always yellow cards. In the last third, when there’s real danger, then great, take one for the team. But so many of his are in totally non threatening situations when the defence are in place to deal with a counter.

Love the guy but just wish on that one thing, he’d be a bit more selective with his tactical fouls.

Also, yellow cards are competition specific, so last nights one won’t affect any potential league suspension.

That shoulder charge with Kev shows the referee don't know the game! Two players running then coming together one taller broader goes down and if a free kick to him!

thought Pep was justifiably clapping, and what was wrong with him clapping? Tierney was joke tonight, I was stunned our goal was allowed, even though it deserved to be.
Pep was annoyed but I just find the hand clapping a little childish.
Not just by Pep but by any player.

Hard to disagree, there was an incident in the second half that summed him up - clear foul on Rodri, twice in fact, he indicates foul but play on, and all Rodri can do is keep heading backwards towards our goal under pressure, and the ball goes out for a spurs throw in. Not even the slightest sign of an advantage, maybe referee think that because we have ball playing goalkeepers that even an under pressure back pass is an advantage to city? Our players react and then risk a booking. To compound it, I think on one occasion with Bobb this happened, and he plays it off a spurs defender for the throw in, and it went spurs way anyway. Hard to not react to such incompetence.

Happened a few times and probably accounts for why the spurs foul count looks so low. He waved play on even when there was arguably no advantage, and the fouls doesn't get recorded.

No doubt spurs were looking to leave one on us in the first half, but like so many other teams they seem to benefit from a first half reluctance to book players, especially in the first twenty five minutes. I think two or three spurs players could and should have seen yellow in the first half, for challenges that were pulled up and bookings shown during the second half.

Don't get me wrong, I think Udogie and Van Der Venn look great defenders and put in some good tackles, but they play right on the line and a mistimed tackle is always a possibility, except they probably know they can play like that as there is an incredibly small chance that a referee will book them for a high mistimed tackle untill after half time.

Hope Richarlison's face is ok by the way, he could have been killed I heard...when are the officials going to pull up obvious play acting?
In the first half Bernie tugged a player slightly he carried on made a shit pass after a few yards, Bernie's action had no affect on him Tierny blew for free kick having played the advantage

I celebrated for a second and then stopped as I knew it would be ruled out......... I am amazed it wasn't.
I did exactly the same.

A late goal when we've not scored there since what seems Adam was a lad would have had me bouncing around the lounge but, I'd watched Dias annoy the keeper on every corner and no foul was ever given so it was obvious the ref would 'do' us.

Maybe he is just shit rather than biased after all?

There was a clear offside not called and the Tottingham player allowed to carry on running at our goal despite the injuries we’ve picked up in recent games. The same at the other end but probably a tighter call against us and the fuckers flag was straight up!
Also that useless prick Richarlson should have been booked for rolling around holding his face after the shoulder to shoulder challenge.
Is that why Pep was having a go at the lino at the end?
