Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

Refs are human. They are susceptible to crowd and player influence. Unless robots are employed, that will never change. Fans of each team think they are swayed against their own side as they only remember the negative decisions and not the positive.

The mindset of having to moan about every refereeing performance regardless of result will always be alien to me. The result doesn’t seem to matter to some people. As long as they can shout corruption in the designated threads, they’re happy and anyone who doesn’t have the same need is contrarian, condescending [add other adjectives] etc.

The explanation ”just look how we are refereed” isn’t a reason. it’s a gut feeling based on tribalism. Refs will always have to make marginal calls. Some will go for your team and some will go against it. It’s the nature of the game.

Ultimately, people love a good moan.
I'd love a good honest ref better than any moan.

So many united and dipper fans in this country............and yet not one referee in the whole country supports either united or dippers (and to my knowledge never has been). Food for thought?

Lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge under Mancini. Some dodgy decisions that night. Nailed on pen not given for us at 1-0. Then an iffy one to give them the win.
Twattenburg I think.
David Silva brought down if I remember correctly and the ref on his haunches with a clear view waves it away and runs off in the other direction.
Clichy sent off.
Our first defeat that season and it was December

The lack of respect for referees is a sad part of football, at all levels and punishments should be more severe, in my opinion. But at the top level PYGMOL and the PL hang them out to dry. I think this because with one gesture they could change this and that is, open the dialogue to the fans, show and explain the decisions being arrived at on the screens and commentary. While PYGMOL and the PL hide behind this mafia style Omerta on everything they decide, it does not help referees one iota and leaves referees carrying the can for decisions that with openness could be avoided. The enemy are not referees, who after years of hard work in lower leagues arrive at the top, but PYGMOL and the PL who hide behind their silence and refuse to move with the times and technology. In short they like their feathered nest.

Here's a slightly different take on it.
We have to believe that refs (OK some not all) don't favour certain teams.
Yet we have retired ref with his own slot on Sly analysing decisions every Monday who somehow always seems to back decisions that go the way of these 'certain teams' (I think you know which teams I'm talking about).
Maybe he just favours them because he's paid too and I shouldn't be making a comparison between active refs and 'media refs'.

Would this be the same **** ex referee who said that Ben Godfrey was 'hunting for the ball' when he kicked out at Ederson?
