I detest VAR but come on, they got it right today.

Its more than that tho. Just watched it again on MOTD. Its striking the difference in the 3 possibly penalty incidents.

Both city ones he was not interested. Pointing for a corner on the handball incident (which the whole ground saw), not a thought from him it could possibly be a pen.

See then the Leicester claim on Gomez. Straight away holds up play, pushing his thought process that it could be a pen.

Its plain as day how we a reffed by different standards. Disgraceful today!!

I’ve never been one to go with the whole “The refs are all bent against us” I always thought they are just incompetent/shit for everyone. But this season and today especially, its getting more and more obvious that we are referee'd differently. The Bernardo booking was blatant bias against us. They had far, far worse fouls deemed not worthy of a yellow. And the handball pen was ridiculous. He must have looked 10 times at the var screen. It’s was one of the most obvious pens of the season. What finally did it for me was the delay to the kick off after the third goal. They were looking for anything to disallow a perfectly obvious good goal. Oh well, it’ll make it more sweeter when we win the league

Yep, VAR is far from perfect but we are better off with it than without it!!

You can't possibly say that because there are no stats to back it up.

There were shit decisions before VAR, and there are shit decisions with VAR. Many of the 'offside by an armpit hair' decisions that have been given are well within the margin of error for the VAR system and in many cases I believe are manipulated to favour certain teams. And the interpretation of 'arm in a natural position' or 'too close to the shot' or 'not interfering with play' certainly comes into the equation. We see different interpretations of identical/similar situations week-in-week-out.

We were sold a LIE, and people are now making excuses for it.

I really would love to see this happen to see if fans are genuinely happier to go back to the man in the middle making blind decisions.

A reasonably routine victory should not dull the sense of outrage we feel at this hopeless moron and his shockingly poor refereeing of the game.

Haven’t seen the Grealish foul again but it looked a stonewall pen in real life and how quick did the VAR goons decide that it wasn’t a pen - they can’t have checked it from many angles.

Any ref who can’t see that handball that we eventually got shouldn’t be allowed to referee at any level let alone in the PL.

Books Bernie for a reasonably innocuous challenge then fails to book their player for sending Kyle airborne. Failed to get a grip on their persistent fouling all game long.

For me the three penalty decisions ended up correct, but only due to VAR. Without it we would have been shafted three times so for once it did its job.

Exactly this….pre-var we get no penalty and they get one, you could just tell by the refs demeanour that he was reluctant to give us anything (never mind the blatantly obvious) Grealish was laughing at him, what normally stiffs us is this imaginary threshold that there’s not enough in it to change the on field decision, bullshit….a foul is a foul & handball is handball, the guy was giving a presidential salute

To be honest, the VAR argument is clouding the issue, and detracting from the fact that some referees are clearly corrupt. There is no other explanation for England's 'performance' yesterday.

Why do you think this?

They had two penalty shouts yesterday, and both times the ref immediately made that big cross motion to say he wasn't going to give them.

I didn't see him do that with the one we got, and given the angle he was looking at it, I can see why it went to VAR.
