Ref Watch

To be honest, the VAR argument is clouding the issue, and detracting from the fact that some referees are clearly corrupt. There is no other explanation for England's 'performance' yesterday.
This. The club should insist that this cheat is not allowed anywhere near our games.
On top of yesterdays performance we have had him on Var this season for:

Liverpool away, where they officiated the game letting tackles go but as soon as we score, Var rules it out for a foul despite similar contact being ignored all game.

Wolves at home, the most blatant penalty ever not given when the defender boots Jack full on, wasn’t even just a touch but a proper whack on the knee.

A few days later Spurs at home and Richarlison playing Superman with him arms high up, clearly not a natural position and yet somehow Var rules no penalty for a handball.

Not sure any of this is a result of corruption I think it’s more a symptom of the fact that we aren’t very well liked for whatever reason. This overall feeling then passes on to the refs who want to please it seems ‘noone likes them so i’ll referee them harshly’

All you need to do is look at some fans comments about us, United fans, Fulham fans(!) and lower league fans bemoaning the poznan, empty seats, shit atmosphere.

It’s a shite state of affairs. So let’s win the fucking lot and give them something to cry about.

Why do you think this?

They had two penalty shouts yesterday, and both times the ref immediately made that big cross motion to say he wasn't going to give them.

I didn't see him do that with the one we got, and given the angle he was looking at it, I can see why it went to VAR.
Yeah, it was a blatantly obvious penalty from most angles. We were laughing in the South Stand as it was like the defender was stopping a basketball shot.

However, when you look at the ref's angle he might not have been able to see the hand as Ndidi's own head is obscuring it....and you can't give what you don't see.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

England had a perfect, unobstructed view of the handball; Ndidi’s body was almost exactly parallel to his own, with his arm clearly out and it and the ball were contrasted conveniently by bright light pink advert hoardings behind. Couldn’t have been in a better setup to see it without standing right next to Grealish.

Even then he didn’t give it and then spent several minutes watching and rewatching the handball from every angle before VAR then went on to check several phases of play prior to the incident to see if there were any fouls by City players that would negate the handball (which the commentators confirmed on my feed).

Do you remember the grand old days of contact equals penalty (Leicester x3) and KW being called an idiot by Keane? Or Tront flagging for a taxi, they gave them or not because they could. That’s why, I think pre-var we got stiffed in both boxes on numerous occasions. That ref allowed Var to run the game yesterday, don’t be fooled because the end result was correct, he was incompetent

But they got both decisions right and we’re still not happy?
His overall performance was poor.in real time he was looking at the handball and immediately indicated no penalty. Took so many looks at the VAR monitor to make a decision! The Grealish incident was a good deal closer than you are saying. His issue of yellow cards was appalling. Silva correctly yellow carded whilst Leicester players getting away with offences until the 89th minute. Blatant dive from Maddison not penalised. Is this not against the laws of the game? Even gave a throw in the wrong way against Akanji. I will give credit to a good official but he is a poor one.
