100%The only way Dean admits this, is if a collective decision was made from the entire organisation not to undermine one another when making a decision, which is basically railing against the introduction of VAR, and been in place since it’s inception, or as we all suspect, VAR has been used to manipulate the outcome of games. Dean is quite smart because he has cleansed his sins and fired a warning shot at the same time, he knows there are much bigger incidents in play here, such as the Rashford offside, the big question is what else does he know ?
Been saying for a while, the refs never wanted it and were actively tyring to discredit VAR from the get go. Pre VAR certain teams in red got decision after decision without recourse. VAR would
potentially ruin this for the cartel clubs. They werent going to take this lying down
Eventually there was so much of a shit storm, they had no option but to relent and VAR arrived. However you only have to look at other sports who have no/few issue with VAR styled systems, to know its been a concerted effort by the officials to get rid of it. This has been plainly obvious for years to many but at least its finally confirmed for all to see with Dean’s interview. As you say its going to be interesting to dig into other incidents as this is the tip of the iceberg for sure…
VAR is our only chance of levelling the playing field. No wonder the refs wanted nothing to do with it. Its a journey and we are not at the end of it by any chance. Stage 1 was getting VAR, stage 2 was letting it highlight to all how bent the officals are and i think we’re virtually there now (even the most placid of people now realise theres something dirty going on). Stage 3 will be to root out the cancer and expunge it from the game!!
