This,this and this didn’t apply the rules correctly shocking from him but what do you expect..

No referee should tolerate that. It shows a huge weakness, letting players get away with that. Other players seeing that will know he's a soft touch, and take maximum advantage. It's the one thing referees in any level of football should not tolerate.

That's what I was saying at every corner. The refs these days are frightened to death of giving a penalty following a corner 'cos there's two or three stoners at every corner, and if that happened Old Mother Riler, so fond of doling out pens at The Swamp, would, these days, raise his eyebrows and quote nonsense about 'weak' refereeing. The LotG are just abandoned at corners and it's the refs incompetence, or missives they've received that sweeps blatant penal offences under the turf. I can't remember the last game I watched where we had 90 minutes of football that didn't include a stone wall pen that just went begging.

The first twelve minutes of the game was the usual Attwell ShitShow! The next hour was a marginal improvement, but the entire game was littered with decisions that were just made with the hope of avoiding controversy.
 
How many times did their left back literally wrestle Raz to the floor when he’d half turned him and was getting away. Raz is a strong little dude, it takes a lot to take him down so it was blatantly obvious how illegal the full back was being.

And when he finally booked him (predictably enough in the 89th min ffs) he booted the ball into the stand way after the whistle had blown for the foul. 2nd yellow - off you go sunshine. Another decision the clueless Attwell bottled.

A penalty can only be given if the wresting continues after the corner is taken.
Atwell might be a spineless clown but he can't ignore pushing and shoving before the ball is kicked so had to warn the defender concerned. I'm not sure even Newcastle players are stupid enough to continue holding opponents in the penalty area while the ball is in play.

I have never known a season where the LotG are applied with such variable abandon. I attend The Etihad and The Academy these days and know that we have to score a sufficient number of legitimate goals to bypass the vagaries of application which refs adopt as standard.

What is found noticeable today was the number of times our player making a pass was bumped and barged, hitting the turf, to make sure he couldn't partake of any further part in the move he had just begun.

Yeah, they were snidey at that all game.

I did laugh at Sterling being belly flopped twice by the same player and him only getting booked once for it.

Well Dan Burn was again busy hauling Laporte to the ground when Rodri scored.
 
I can only recall one thing he got wrong all game, and that was when Burn ploughed through the back of de Bruyne to win a header and the ref only stopped the game for the head knock and then played on with a drop ball to Newcastle instead of a City free kick.

Good game by the ref really.
