Ref Watch

The footage was rolled forward to make it look like offside but they could have EASILY chosen a frame wich made it look onside and nobody would have questioned it.

It is 100% BENT.
100% agree , VAR now gives PGMOL the ability to decide who wins and loses games , the split second when the decision is made can be manipulated , Foden's knee was not offside if the video was stopped 100th of a second before , its down to a wanker like Mason who probably took great glee in disappointing nearly 50k home supporters.
It is 100% bent absolutely no doubt , the fact that the VAR officials are not required to explain themsleves is also a concern, PGMOL hide behind a vail of secrecy and are never taken to account in a multi million pound business i am surprised the game is ran in such an amateur and yet autocratic way.

With the Premier League subject to certain influencer clubs, match officials share the same paymasters and inconsistencies.

Referees must be part of a independant body if we are to have consistency and neutrality.

spot on

the umbrella of the premier league is what everybody working under ? so ref's and officials TV media radio
just ask ian cheeseman what power they have ? he was removed because he called out anthony taylor in the game vs chelsea when the c**t cheated and cost city the 3 points and 2 red cards

87% correct? Give it a rest.

It's been shown from day 1 with Sterling at WestHam that it's 100% not fit for purpose due to technological "issues".

I'd love for PIGMOL to take their technology to any university in the land (let alone a professional video capture company) and have it's accuracy analysed; it'd be ripped to shreds in seconds.

It can't even assess the moment when the ball is kicked let alone accurately measure where each player is on the pitch.

Laughable.

Hawkeye have said they have developed a more accurate version for off sides as the current 1 is only 87% accurate.
PGMOL and The PL don't want 100% accuracy. They are quite happy with 87%. The current system is probably capable of greater accuracy, but it is the scapegoat they need to allow them to manipulate the remaining 13% of decisions. It's what helps them get that new name on the PL trophy (Leicester). It's what they used to come so close in getting a second new name on the PL trophy in 2018/19, but we matched Liverpool and VAR in the run in, winning our final 14 League games. It's what sustains the illusion of a strong Manchester United.

If the PL really wanted the best referees, it could go to Europe and pay for them (Brexit notwithstanding) like they did with Jarred Gillett.

The PL and PGMOL need each other, and the last thing they want is greater than 87% accuracy for VAR.

Wasn’t this already covered a season or so back with Andy Gray on bein showed an offside then same game same incident different frame rate and boom onside ..

I have couple of issues with the offside decision by VAR, firstly I'm struggling to see what part of Foden's anatomy lines up with the red line, there seems to me to be a gap netween a perpendicular from Foden's knee and the line. Surely the goal side of the line should be level with Foden's knee. Equally if you take a perpendicular from the outside of the Palace player's shoulder it looks to be ahead of the blue line. It is still probably just offside but as others have said this frame is just after the ball has been kicked. The camera angle doesn't allow you to see when the ball is first touched. From the camera used to broadcast the game I'd say the ball is maybe a few inches away from the foot.View attachment 29060
If we look at the previous frame where the foot is probably still in contact with the ball Foden's knee is not so far advanced and I'd say he is level at worst. Law 11 states that the first point of contact with the ball should be used and that doesn't seem to be the case here. Certainly within the margin of errors for the technology.View attachment 29061
Yes, absolutely ... VAR is claiming a level of precise / couple of millimetres accuracy that simply isn't there / possible.

And given that most games are enlivened by their goals, it seems odd to be working so hard to find ways to chalk-off goals on the slightest of pretexts.

Like Pep says, we have been ‘Incredible’ in how we have overcome 19 other teams and the Premier League.
