Ref Watch

Really happy to see Pep swerve shaking that slimy tw@t of a ref’s hand as well as make a well timed reminder we only win because we deserve to rather than being one of the ‘big’ teams with ‘istory’.

I really think Pep has developed an indelible bond with our club in the fact he really gets what we are up against more than any other manager we have ever had.

The ‘established’ clubs and their friends at UEFA, Premier League, PGMOL & the media thought they were set for life and then we came along. He has had a ringside seat to the totally subnormal behaviour of governing bodies, referees and the media towards us.

One day he will leave us but I truly believe both we as a club and his achievements while with us will hold a special place in his heart.

He’s a f*cking diamond.
Good post. I wonder if that is partly why he doesn't seem to get up as much as we do for games against the Rags.....because he's more interested in the bigger picture?

I've said it before, but high speed cameras should be installed - over 1000 frames per second - and it would give a far clearer picture of the player positions at the correct moment the ball is kicked, with a far greater degree of accuracy than at 25/50 fps currently used.
(But the cynic in me says that this is the reason why they won't adopt this. Not because of cost, but because they can't then manipulate the decision to suit the outcome required by their bosses.)
I've seen pictures of racing propeller driven aircraft where the propellers seem stationery because they are going at exactly the same rate as the video camera frame rate. The cameras seem just bog standard.
No expert but l would think that is a bit faster than a ball or a player moves.

It's crazy, given the estimates made in the "calculation" of his position at the point at which the ball is played, to then give him (or anyone for that matter) offside by what looks less than about 25cm to me. The fine margins of top level professional football can't be this fine with so many estimates involved.

VAR simply isn't fit for purpose, or rather, it's just not an adequate enough tool to measure the degree of accuracy that PIGMOL insist on applying.
It’s exactly fit for purpose !!

This is my take on it also.

It allows the PiGMOB to 'legitimise' f*cking certain teams (us mainly) over. The offside in the Palace game is a case in point. There was clear distance between the ball leaving the foot as Foden was 'marginally' offside, despite the PiGMOB stating they were going to give the advantage to the attacking team.

They could EASILY (in seconds) have chosen a frame in that sequence where Foden would have been well on side, but the took over 2 minutes to find 'conclusive evidence' to prove he was offside.

I think you are absolutely right. It might not sit well with us fans but he just see's them as another club, another 3pts, move onto the next game etc... Gone are the days they were our cup final where we may have gone all out and fluked a win then lost our next 3 games.

He clearly doesn't hold the utter contempt for them that we do but I hope to proven right that when he really thinks we need a win in this particular fixture we go out and get one.

On Sunday we really do and I am expecting him to pull out all the stops and get us the victory and only outside influences and/or stupid errors will stop us from doing just that.

If Oliver referees the game like he did at Stamford Bridge and his bent mates on VAR play fair there will only be one winner.

Us!

I've got a really radical solution take two blokes give them a flag each stand em on opposite sides of each half and if they believe a players offside when the balls played they put the flag up, the referee can then blow the whistle. Outlandish I know but it might just work and be a lot quicker.
What a great idea - wasn't that tried for many, many, years and because it was so good some clowns decided to try to improve it - yeah right!!
As someone posted on a different thread - "If it ain't broke don't try and fix it".
