Ref Watch

I thought the ref was alright tonight. Tried to let the game flow as much as possible.

Id be happy if he reffed all our remaining CL games.
Same.. I'm surprised at the comments in here. I thought he was fair and let the game flow as well as he could. I think he could have gave Rodri a yellow for his early foul on Mbappe. The Cancelo card may have been a bit harsh, but it was on Messi so go figure. Overall I was pleased though.

Seen worse, using a comparison against what we usually get in Europe and the Prem he's one of the better ones, that being said foul count & our bookings were crap.

My only complaint was that PSG deserved a few yellows and we didn't deserve cancelo's.

A really bad ref though would have sent off Cancelo for Messi's face holding.

What happened in the build up to when Gundogan hit the post? I’m sure it wouldn’t have counted but don’t know what for.

Fouls stood at 8-1 at HT. I thought by comparison he made Mussolini look a decent kind of guy! But, there again, all the good refs I rate are all dead 'uns!

Don't think you can blame the ref for Rodri's booking. From his angle it certainly would've looked like a foul and bookable offence. Blame the cheating scum who dived holding his shin and screaming for that. The Cancelo booking was justified in my opinion, dived in with bot feet off the ground to reach the ball and definitely caught Messi on the follow through.

As above, the penalty. But the mistake was corrected. The penalty on Bernardo should have been corrected also, so in my view, the fault of with VAR, not Atwell on this occasion.
I thought the match referee was the game's ultimate arbiter. It is up to the VAR officials to advise the referee that he may have made a "clear and obvious" error in his decision making, and advise him to review his decision. It is purely up to the referee to either change his decision on their advice, or uphold his original decision.
Remember, VAR stands for Video Assistant Referee.
