Ref Watch

Who was the ref that gave Salad the pen at the Etihad when someone (Ruben?) touched his arm? Pretty sure that it was the same clown as yesterday, if so he should be asked to look at slabhead wrestling Phil to the ground, side by side with the Salad one and told to explain the why one was a pen and one was not. Then he should be forced to write a letter of apology

Only 1 yellow card being issued yesterday was a joke. I know they had trouble getting near us in the 2nd half but there were definitely more challenges than the Maguire one on Kev that deserved a booking. Was actually very surprised that he didn't award a foul for the Phil barge. I know he plays right back Phil but there was no need to send him right back to the dressing room.

Michael Oliver has an agenda against Man City and Khaldoon should collect all the examples (which are plenty) and send them to FA for investigation.

I thought Oliver reffed the game pretty well yesterday. Much rather have a ref that lets things go than one that gives free kicks for everything.

Sure, he could have booked more players. What would that have achieved though? Only Maguire was in any danger of being sent off and surely we want him on the pitch for comedic value. He’s their new Phil Jones.

Could it have been a penalty? Yeah, it could, but the way he reffed the game, those sorts of tussles weren’t given as fouls.

Could Oliver have given a penalty for the Walker challenge on about 40 mins? Yes, but he didn’t as he was consistent.

We battered them. We don’t need to bang on about every little decision that could have gone more our way.

i very much agree with your last line, however the tussle between phil and slab head was given as a foul to united, i personally felt the ref was fine, except imo that was a penalty and imo a red

Is there a video on the Foden incident?

Hasn’t been shown in any highlights surprise surprise

Fair enough. Having seen it again, the one thing it wasn’t was a foul to them. It hasn’t stopped my enjoyment of the game though!

I just hope the people who are moaning about Oliver are able to have enjoyed the game. Sometimes I do wonder if it is possible for them to do so.

Maybe the answer is doing his job correctly, the foul when Mahrez was brought down in full flight on the edge of their box was one of the most stonewall yellows you will ever see, however Oliver chose to crack on with getting his spray out on purpose so he could move on from having to give the yellow. It was pathetic and completely obvious what he was doing.

Of course I fully appreciate it didn’t have a bearing on the outcome but at the time we didn’t know that’d be the case.
