I was his linesman once in the FA Cup - Macc Town v Chorley FC. I'm not sure what he'd done to deserve that particular low key affair. I always thought he was a decent referee.

From listening to this I think that maybe the reason. He refereed. He followed the LOTG and wasn't afraid to tell his colleagues or players to fuck off. He played for the sport, not TV.

Although I remember the **** having mare in the 3-3 draw with Wolves at ours.

From memory, didn't he send a player off or something? Can't remember much else that went on that day - it couldn't have been a very important match.

I don’t know which match is being referred to. No doubt we had him 3-4 times that season.
