Ref Watch

Never seen it so bad. Compounded by BT, not replays of fouls on City players, no lines for their goal which looked tight on the offside, no condemnation of clearly piss poor decisions.
The ref should also pay Fernandinhos fine for his booking as he cussed it by not giving a clear foul seconds before.

Still fucking fuming

It's about time refs were involved with aftermatch interviews, we see players and managers having to explain and justify decisions, the more I see of the "3" main decisions the more I want answers, imo no red for cancelo, red for the Brighton gundogan incident, and a city penalty, not to mention the foul on jesus, the foul on Bernardo and another foul on gundogan by lallana, which actually was the one that forced him off, Brighton were overly aggressive which is unlike them, I've no problem with that, get stuck in they might not fancy it, but we then need protection from over zealous challenges, the referee was either totally inept in which case he shouldn't ref again, or something dodgy was going on

Scary bad tonight…both on field and VAR.

Stones sent off for less, but neither the ref nor VAR saw a late, over the knee, challenge against a player on the run qualifies as a red card in this game?! Pathetic!

Cancelo? Never looked at the player the whole time. Eel beck stepped into him and wrapped arms to go down. Cancelo was the ONLY player goi g for the ball and the ONLY player to get to the ball. For me, it wasn’t even a foul! Game is gone when THAT is a foul and a red card, even after VAR! Fucking joke!

Speaking of actual fouls, how about going over the top of the ball in a sliding tackle and taking out a player about to take a shot on goal? “For City?” you say, “Then, no foul, no penalty, no card, no nothing!” Didn’t even get a mention or a second look in the highlight reel!

Refereeing has reached the point of incredulity in this country and VAR in England is a laughing stock!

Over here in the States, we didn’t even get a VAR review for the 3rd goal, just the post-match interview where Burn said he thought he was offside! Comical!

Atwell looked out of his depth and appeared to lose control if the game. When Jesus was clattered and he went to blow, then decided not to, it looked bad. When Fernandinho then immediately stopped Bassouma(sp?) and got a yellow card, I thought he was about to be the second red, because he was livid and straight into Atwell’s face!

Regardless of the piss poor officiating, even a 10 man City, which managed to improve the score from 1-0 to 2-0, should NEVER be giving up a 3 goal lead to fucking Brighton!

4-4-1 is the basic set-up for a 10 man team, or 4-5/5-4 when under the kosh. We have the players to be able to counter, as Foden proved, but we were way too open.
Agreed, the only thing I would highlight is regarding the defending, don't think we were in that 'do or die' mindset for fear of an injury, which is understandable, but Brighton and the officials took full advantage of that imo.

So bad that it was suspicious.

Could be used in the future for indoctrinating trainee referees:
This morning's topic is entitled "How to blatantly influence the outcome of a sporting event" and is accompanied by a re-run of a PL game from 18-05-2021 to show exactly how it's done without any fear of accountability.

Definitely doesn't touch it. Everyone had it down as a De Gea assist until they realised that meant the goal was offside.

Yes doesn't touch it. That is why the linos decision is baffling
He should have let play to go on and when the ball was in the net give offside as that's what they have been told to do and he couldn't possibly see the flick. This then makes the decision as no goal and then makes it difficult to give the goal as there wasn't a clear flick.
But because he gives the goal the var thinking is the other way round

Pretty much the same challenge. Ridiculous decision by VAR

Only when the Premier League allows audio feed between refs and VAR officials to be heard will we have any kind of accountability or explanation as to why certain decisions are made. It's blatantly obvious that VAR is a tool for manipulating the outcome of games!! Fucking Stasi didn't have this much control!
And you have to wonder why Riley doesn't want this to happen.

In an absolute melee of unbelievably shite decisions by that cheating twat atwell tonight the most baffling was when he gave a foul against Stones on their keeper just because he dropped it, fucking useless bent bastard and Moss can fuck off aswell.

VAR is meant to be there to improve the game and come to the correct decisions, all it is is bent bastards backing up whatever decision the other bent bastards have made on the pitch
