Ref Watch

Is that Turkish ref Cunty still available instead?

Cunty by name...

No - something has gone on with Turkish ref lists and he and a whole bunch of others have been removed.
Presumably that makes him ineligible for UEFA, as he's not been used in the last couple of rounds, I think.

Goodo.

The Scouse bastard Bryche as also retired.

Can't see UEFA giving Lahoz the final again if we get there.

They might give us that suspect Italian ref Michel Deanio...

Thought he was alright really. Got most of the decisions correct apart from the Grealish freekick where Grealish was actually fouled. Didn't get conned by Madrid's play acting, kept the yellows down and played on when he could. He could have added more time on but I think this is the 4th official who sets that.

Does that mean we get to replay all those games where Cunty reffed and we lost. I remember him sending Mario off for just a bit of a nibble!

Noticed that HRH Monsignor Dean wasn't giving one of the pens at Turf Moor the other night, until VAR told him it was a stoner. I wonder how many other decisions the pompous oaf got wrong that didn't come within the remit of VAR!

Considering Bernardo being booked with his first real foul the fact that Tiago stayed on was ridiculous. Trent should have been booked for the foul on Sterling.

Taylor really doesn’t want to make decisions

How VAR didn’t intervene in the Fabinho challenge is beyond me - genuinely can’t believe how it wasn’t a red given that it was a dangerous tackle and no attempt was made to get the ball.

Red all day long and the failure to give it needs an explanation.

Usual two second view of the offside from a camera angle somewhere on the M60.

Taylor shouldn’t be anywhere near any of our games again.

Bernardo’s was a booking as were the others. Surprised really, as Taylor is normally one of the better referees.

Yes, Bernardo's was a stone cold booking, deliberate trip, miles from the ball.

I thought that Taylor was fine for about an hour, and then he turned into a complete shambles.

Absolutely bent.
  1. Taylor gives a yellow for an obvious red by Fabinho and VAR declines to have him review).
  2. VAR completely ignores a penalty from VVD on Jesus.
  3. Taylor gives a foul against Kev for being cynically scythed down to avoid having to send off Thiago and to bar VAR from looking at the incident.
  4. VAR rules out our goal to go up on a choice frame to show Sterling 2mm offside.
  5. Taylor gives a foul on Jesus for the defender kicking him which disallows Phil’s screamer immediately after.

The PL wanted the title to remain tight and they got it. Yes, we helped by being incredibly wasteful, but this is exactly how officials can influence matches when the action is tight. It’s marginal decisions, that’s how they influence outcomes to maximise viewership and fan engagement which, in turn, increases advertising and sponsorship revenue.

Anyone that thinks an enterprise awash with this amount of money (and corruption elsewhere), that has the ability to directly influence outcomes, chooses not to based on some notion of “fairness”, is naive at best.

Sadly VAR was introduced to help the officials but it’s sadly not really working is it ???? They are being backed up by a bunch of even poorer officials who are sat viewing it :( and until the standard of officials goes up a hell of a lot then these sort of decisions will sadly continue .......... you knew as soon as Thiago put that tackle in and got away with it he would land another in

My wife knows nothing about football, and she came to the conclusion that it’s obviously bent just on the 2nd half of that game .
City should be investigating the PL, not the other way round.
