Surely the defender would just have taken him out, that far from goal would only provoke a yellow card.

No you have mixed things up.
Rico's first booking was for dissent after kdb had allegedly fouled a player.
His second booking was for a so called foul.

My point is Lewis could be seen on tele talking to the ref. It was not clear, although he did not seem to swear, what he said but he was booked for dissent.
Fernandez clearly told the referee to fuck off. Everyone watching on tele saw it. He then continued his tirade at the ref.

I am asked to accept Lewis was booked for dissent and I do. I cannot accept that Fernandez doesn't get booked for telling the ref to fuck off. It's bias/favouritism

As for Fernandez, his treatment of referees goes far beyond what should be considered acceptable for a captain to be allowed to do. For him, his captaincy seems to give him immunity from any punishment for ill treatment of referees. PGMOL are at fault for tolerating his behaviour, as it's this sort of stuff that ultimately led to the Coote situation.

I don't necessarily think he'd have needed to. Doku is absolutely blistering over 5 to 10 yards, but his speed is all about acceleration over a very short distance. Over a longer stretch he's quick, but far from exceptionally so.....

His shirt gives him immunity from punishment.
