Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

The ref was terrible. He allowed the game to turn into what looked like an informal training session at times.

- Stopping to allow players to do their laces
- Not starting the game to allow players to have a drink and talk to their coaches
- Allowing non-players onto the pitch to join in celebrations and then holding the restart for him to eventually depart with no punishment.
- Randomly stopping the game mid flow to have a chat with two players.
- Seemingly forgetting to bring his cards.

Lets blame the referee. Fucking hell , seriously?

There is whole whopping great fucking gulf between criticizing the referee’s performance and blaming him for the win.

It must be weird seeing everything in such blinkered and digital terms, a universe of only extremes with fuck all grey area or nuance in the middle.

Theres a common theme on here after every shit show and it seems to involve the referee. He got in the way a couple of times and should have booked Bellingham but as the general consensus seems to be that Bellingham is an overrated pile of shite than him playing the second leg should be a good thing. Being a referee is a thankless job. Read any club forum and you'll see the same criticism of them.

If it happens in the pl I am convinced they would have disallowed it as the hand was offside
What is the law when it comes to being behind the ball rather than an opponent. Is it offside if any part of the player’s anatomy which can score a goal is beyond all of the ball, or is it OK if any part is level with any of the ball?

You cannot be offside if you are behind the ball when it's played. The offside rule also states that only your head, body or feet can be offside. Yet I have seen numerous goals disallowed in the PL when an arm is in an offside position. Granted this hasn't happened recently.
Also the PL have said it can't be handball if the ball hits the arm on the area where the sleeve would end on a short sleeve shirt. The actual law says it's the whole of the arm including the shoulder.

The ref was fine last night, you could argue he kept his cards in his pocket but he was fair and equal. Anybody moaning about him prove that referees can never ever win.
Two moans.
His positional play was shite hence the collision and other blocks.
The penalty. Foden was getting treated he could, no should have cleared the Madrid players away from the spot. Why did he wait until after ?
Then he spent ages talking to Haaland and then went to the keeper for a chat. All that delay put pressure on Haaland.
Yes he missed stuff for Madrid as well which is why I said he was crap.

I thought he was dreadful. Fell for their diving antics every time - one undeserved free kick led to their first equaliser. Then he was constantly in the way when we did manage to string passes together- one time Haaland may have been through but ref in the way - again so stopped a potential attack. And the activity around the wait for EH to take the penalty showed complete deference to Mard Arses and a complete show.

Usual Eufa shite imo.

He was fine, missed things for both teams which rules out the normal cries of corruption. Mental how biased we see things involving our side. Chatting to an Everton season ticket holder today, going bonkers over last nights ref, yet Liverpool fans are screaming corruption too. I learnt a few years ago to try and take the blinkers off when it is my team

Which people?
Neutrals, not the myth that Uefa are trying to stop us but folk without a dog in the fight will enjoy a game where the ref keeps his cards away. He obviously shouldn't do and should book players accordingly. Like Bernardo........

He was fine but he missed things for both sides? Probably not fine then?
