that's just it tho. We've been subject to shockers all season. Granted we have been good enough to overcome them in the main, but at this stage of the season, in big ties it makes the difference. We must be close to 15 leg breakers this year. From those, none were sending offs, several only got a yellows. Some didn't even get a caution and then the cherry on top of the cake is, for some we didn't even get the foul....... Scandalous....

Also, get fined for complaining about bad decisions going against us.

We're supposed to be 100% every game though just to overcome this shit.

Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz was like a 12th man for Liverpool in the key moments as Manchester City crashed and burned in their 2-1 quarter-final defeat to their Premier League foes, writes Desmond Kane.
Trust a Spaniard to ruin it for Pep. Guardiola ended this frantic night in the stands at the Etihad Stadium wondering what might have been if it hadn’t been for the pesky Antonio Mateu Lahoz, a Spanish referee whose display was all that the Manchester City martinet had feared and worse before this salvage operation.

Story

Even the (non-British) media know it's a farce.

VAR would be great if the guys watching the screens were totally neutral. I have no reason to think they will be, nothing will change, we will still get screwed.
Are there still a couple of guys on the forum that believe everything evens out with swings and roundabouts?

I can possibly see your point, however take the Milner offside goal tonight, on big screens it would be nigh on impossible to not change that decision. If you didn't, you'd be sacked on the spot as the uproar would be seismic. VAR will never be perfect, but it will put right the vast amount of incidents it gets involved in. At least it deserves a fair chance, before we right it off. Compared to the current state of play, its going to be 90% better at least. Just don't understand having seen what we've seen this season, how any Blue wouldn't want to give it a chance...

2-0 at half time & a decent chance theose twats would have crumbled.

We were fucking shite at Anfield, but there are loads of instances where teams have had an absolute nightmare & scrawped a goal, then ended up going through over two legs.

Without fucking appalling refs, that would be us tonight.

Im with you... Reading above, you must be a full on advocate of VAR now then... the current system is not fit for purpose, so we must give VAR a chance yes??

Same people will use v.a.r. to favour the same teams.

Maybe your right. Maybe your wrong. But shouldn't we find out for sure, without preconception!! the current system is corrupt, VAR deserves a chance to see if it improves it (which it has already).......

Just mental to me, why any blue wouldn't want to see if it improves things, compared to the current state of play, which is nothing short of farcical....

The sooner VAR is brought in the better. Its not perfect as anyone who watched Macclesfield last Saturday on BT sport. Two players collide, Ebsfleet player goes down free kick harshly given against Macc player. Fourth official pipes up, ref sends off Macc player....Red overturned on appeal but that sending off cost Macc 2 points. WTF the fourth official thought he saw is anyones guess, so VAR is no guarantee of eradicating stupidity incompetence or down right cheating by officials from the game. Just make it more transparent and easy to see the extent of how bent it is.

I think they will just disallow other goals for minor offences instead.

And no way Atkinson would have changed his decision on Ashley Young, he saw it clearly in real time as did his linesman (who he didn't ask).

He'd just say he got the ball & there was 'doubt'.

So we stick with the current system which you admit is shite...??!! And with that its guaranteed to never get any better.

Totally illogical to me, but each to their own....
