Referees/Officials Thread - 2023/24

Stuff comes out like this every now and then, remember mark Halsey and him being told to change a match report i think it was,the media cover these but they quickly disappear as much as they pop up,and yet no real outrage from the media,I wonder why ..
Halsey was pretty much silenced, and the media have all but 'forgotten' about his comments.

"I just think in games like these you just - I don't even want to say good luck to go your way - you just want things to go as they should.

"I'm not going to talk too much as I don't want to get into trouble, but the only thing I was surprised about was how quickly the decisions were made at that moment in time.

"You see now, on decisions that can define a game - which maybe, amongst other things, did today - you tend to see referees take a bit more time, particularly at the top, top level. So I was really surprised, looking at it, how quickly it all happened.

"You just need things to go your way. I'm just biting my tongue, in terms of what I really feel."

The above is the full quotes from Cooper in the Torygraph.

It seems other media organisations clipped it. Why did they do that?

We all now why… Protect the cartel at all costs

If anyone wants an example of a ref dubiously influencing a match, watch back the first half of the City v Fulham match.

Just watching another discussion about the penalty involving players who don't know the rules.

Shay Given making the point that the keeper is second guessing his dive because of Akanji. That's true, but it's not the offside rule.

Akanji has to either play/try to play the ball, or he has to "clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision". Nothing about making a keeper not dive, just in case he does play the ball.

Was in shock when Oliver gave the penalty for us
He had no choice is was such an obvious decision but bar that it was the usual Cty performance by him. Different rule book as to what is a foul and a card for us and what is for them. Player pulls our player back from attacking, no card, Bernie does it card, Rodri carded and more dirty fouls by them no card and no 2nd yellow for the penalty

Brilliant today. Got all the decisions in our favour correctly.

Bout time we start to Benefit from some questionable decisions. Akanji wasn’t directly infront of the keeper and he didn’t touch it so…

Now we are European royalty we get treated differently -:)

It was never a goal in a million fuckin years mate. We were helped out but I'll take it.

The precedent for the second goal being allowed goes back to the Rashford/Fernandez one in the derby
