Referees' Performances | 2025/26

The majority of clubs are screwed over by VAR whilst a minority seem to benefit. If the majority of clubs want VAR they should insist on transparency. The clubs are the premier league and can surely vote on how VAR is run. This isn’t just an American’s sticking together thing as lesser American owned clubs are also badly affected. If there was full real time transparency, visual on the big screen and audio in the VAR room so that everyone can see and hear what is going on, VAR just might have a future.

Those cartoons are clearly manipulated and should be binned. As mentioned on here regarding Phil’s offside arse, how can there be a right image and a wrong image?

it’s a multi-billion dollar business FFS not Trotters Independent Trading and might be a good start to relegate any teams who don’t/won’t have big screens in their stadiums.

How many of these other teams have had 115/130 charges brought against them which have been hanging over them for over 3 years?

I get your point, but (and I know this is with blue tinted glasses in) we do seem to get the worst of it, whether it be dodgy title deciding decisions against us (whether directly or indirectly) and the PL do want to destroy us.

I agree, whilst being pushed by the red shirts and laughingly spurs, they want us out the way. But i dont believe they make decisions in game to fuck us over

Pick a frame, any frame, just pick one. One frame he is off, another frame he is on, the technology isn't good enough to distinguish which is the correct frame to use. They picked a frame to show him off but the one shown was probably the one they first chose and then they forgot to change it when it put on screen. Anyone who now says VAR isn't manipulated to suit teams needs to give their heads a wobble. There is a reason no PL team in history has gone an entire season without conceding a penalty before this season. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury I give you PGMOL and their head, Mr Howard Webb. If there is any doubt whatsoever then you must find them guilty.

How can anyone defend the VAR decisions that seem to always go against us but rarely go against the red shits
Something is very wrong when they are manipulating the graphics to show offsides.
Yesterday's was clearly wrong.. They said they showed the wrong image.. Sounds very wrong to me.. When we saw the graphic on the big screen everyone was outraged by it.. Even the officials must have been embarrassed.

I dont think he was offside by the way. Its just incompetence though

Whats even more hilarious is that villas was just as tight as that and is given, its cheating in plain sight and answer me this when there is any doubt it goes against us but for the side playing in red, i present you with the west ham vs arsenal decision there was doubt all over that but it was given.

Dale Johnson on the BBC provides updates on contentious decisions and the 'KMI panel' which have a method of confirming an error, but that it wasn't enough of an error.

Flick through this season and it's become more & more contrived. Tackles that were a red card are now judged on 'force, intensity & contact point' to make a jumbled nonsense decision. Havertz last week, Keane on Doku & Dalot on Doku too.

You can headbutt someone provided the referee uses a certain description of the incident which 'makes it hard for VAR'

They've let corners become scrums, you hear justification for defenders facing away from the ball and pushing people away etc.

There's never been an image shown for the Semenyo offside goal against Bournemouth, or an explanation for the instant flag on Haaland when he was clean through.

Foden wasn't offside yesterday, they spent 2/3 minutes to come up with some warped image.

It's exhausting to read the attempts at justifying inconsistent & incorrect uses of VAR. UEFA far from perfect but they use it consistently.

Not incompetence mate.. How can they use a frame that proved he was inside but say it was offside.. And then have the cheek to say we used the wrong image..

It's total bollocks.. It's just a tool for manipulation.. Fuck VAR

Daft Dermott and Stupid Sherwood currently saying how brilliant arsenal are for not conceding a penalty or a red card all season, the first club in PL history. Thank fuck it’s cos arsenal are such a nice team and nothing to do with the officials or var
Elbow by Gabriel on Woltermade. Headbutt on Haaland. Two reds there.
There was also a player on a yellow, who made another yellow challenge, that was subbed immediately.

Yeah, nothing to see here!!!!!!

Well the consistency of having another inept **** ref us was right till the end
As somebody on here said, there is no independence with var, these idiots are marking their own homework and then defending it afterwards all to each other, ref makes a crap decision, var defends crap decision, webb makes up some bullshit to further defend and then they get another idiot on sky to defend it more, all part of the same corrupt club

I mean the var aside, some pretty poor decisions were made yesterday, maybe he got caught up in the hype, I dunno, but it was a standard referee performance we have all been accustomed to I guess.....fucking shite!

Watching it on tv they broadcast the 2nd image of Foden’s arse being offside. I was wondering why the players were then going mental and pointing up at the screen to the ref, something very bent happened yesterday for two images being produced to get the decision they wanted.
Just remember the doctored image of the Newcastle goal at Newcastle in the league game in November.
