Referees' Performances | 2025/26

The keeper still cannot pick it up even if he slices it as you describe. Not sure where you got this from.
Part of law 12 below:

An indirect free kick is awarded if a goalkeeper, inside their penalty area, commits any of the following offences:

  • touches the ball with the hand/arm after releasing it and before it has touched another player
  • touches the ball with the hand/arm, unless the goalkeeper has clearly kicked or attempted to kick the ball to release it into play, after:
    • it has been deliberately kicked to the goalkeeper by a team-mate
    • receiving it directly from a throw-in taken by a team-mate

I don’t think Beyandir did that, he just nicked the ball away from Haaland. I assume the law is meant to cover situations where the keeper accidentally sliced the ball against his hand or arm when attempting to clear rather than deliberately picking it up

I couldn’t understand why we didn’t receive a free kick but I am guessing that either Taylor thought it was a genuine attempt to clear the ball and he slipped or maybe he thought Haaland touched it. If it wasn’t either of those then I have no idea.

Thanks for that. Rule obviously changed since my day. However, I'm not certain he was attempting to clear it

Twattwell on Sunday. The guy who missed the Palace handball. And the guy who continuously looks out of his depth no matter the level of the game he referees.

Baffling.

TBH, I thought he might have booked Bernardo and Trossard.

So was happy when he didn’t.

Despite it being an obvious yellow for Trossard.

Take him off and get Bobb on

We (the club) need to make a stand and tell the FA that Twatwell won't be refereeing us again. Tell them that we will no longer stand for his obvious corruption.

Like you said, it's so obvious and corrupt, the referees give us nothing and enough is enough
The club have to stand up and call them out, somebody from City should make a video of all the dodgy goings on and shows it on the City TV
