Referees' Performances | 2025/26

I thought you were no longer allowed a towel for long throws…?

Shatwell is a bent bastard and has always been a bent bastard. Any game we have got him and we avoid defeat is a massive bonus.
I never knew that rule, but it struck me when Calafiori was using the towel that he was doing it very sneakily and suspiciously. His body language suggested that

That goal should have been ruled out for a foul, you just know if we had scored that then they would have took a proper look and ruled it out for a foul,we know what they are at,made worse with that fucker Gillett on VAR ..
Interesting point that, never gave it a thought.

So the ref missed the initial foul, fair enough.

But if a goal quickly follows then it should be reviewed

I don’t think it was a foul on Nico. Calafiori didn’t actually touch Nico, it was Nico eho ended up standing on Calafiori.
No, thats what it looks like if you slow it down. what actually happened was Nico won a 50/50 and played the ball where as Calafiori missed the ball sliding into Nico. Clear foul.

Atwell should basically have been wearing an Arsenal shirt yesterday. He gave us nothing at all, any 50-50 for us he allowed play on, any 50-50 for them he blew a foul for against City. The stamp on Khus should have been a foul and a yellow, not even sure we got a free kick, every throw he allowed them to creep at least 10 yards down the pitch. no protection for Erl but as soon as Erl bullies back he blew. the list could be endless. It was cheating in plain sight the whole game, but it will be forgotten as nothing was too obvious or impactful, it was a 1000 cuts of shite / biased performance from the ref.

Timber could and should have had 3 yellow cards. He constantly held Doku. Pretty much every time Doku got the ball, Timber impeded him.

The standard of refereeing is truly appalling and imo has not improved one iota.

Some of the decisions, and their impact on results this season, are almost unbelievable.

The interpretation of rules & the inconsistencies of application is utterly incomprehensible unless corruption is at play.

Yesterday Attwell was incompetently, inconsistently shocking but just managed to manipulate away from anything too obvious or controversial.

PGMOL are not fit for purpose and its incomprehensible to me that a multi billion business tolerates such a sub standard body !!

The archetypal 'homer' unless he's at the Etihad and, like every other Whistling Wanker, does more than is best to ensure that the opposition get a fair crack of the whip plus!

Not sure if it was him or someone else, but one of ours (Doku I think) was fouled three times (shirt pulls) by the same player in about 20 yards, the yellow was shown when he finally went down, attwell then indicated a shirt pull, and pointed to all three fouls.

I remarked to my lad, three consecutive, seperate fouls, two of which our player shrugged off, and the final one he went down from, but only 1 yellow card.

This is the behaviour of Pep's City.
Very rarely does a player try and buy a foul, remonstrate to the ref or gain several yards for free kicks or throw ins.
But, the Media seldom applaud the honesty of City.
Arteta is a prize twonk with his team mimicking his crass behaviour, but are rarely criticised for their shenanigans...

I think that the constant re-interpretation of the laws, particularly the handball law, is one of the most remarkable features of the current game. it occurs not just from one week to the next but from first half of a match to the second half.

There is also the aspect of completely ignoring a specific law. Blatant time wasting never seems to bring any kind of sanction until it matters fuck all as far as time left is concerned. Does a team concede a free kick whenever a goalkeeper is yellow-carded for time wasting or are they expempt as written into the LotG rather than what the ref immediately thinks is appropriate.

He was awful yesterday. Complete weak homer even down to the foul that led to the equalizer for Tarquins.

Just a general question ….. All fans of all clubs think the ref is biased against them, but we know having seen these cunts week in week out exhibit a subtle bias against us that something’s amiss with the way our games are reffed.

Is this down to unconscious bias ?These refs have grown up exposed to a football media world where little old City knew their place and the glorious red shirted heroes of the rags dippers and gooners were the good guys.

Everyone likes a winner, refs are no different. Will the refs in 10, 20, 30 years time have that same unconscious bias towards us now that we’re serial winners and part of the establishment and they’ve grown up associating City with success.

6 refs support Liverpool

La Liga had the same problem in the 90s with Real Madrid

I’m not sure that he is bent, but I am sure that he is one of the worst refs in the Premier League. Martin Samuels has opined similar.

Last time he reffed us in the FA Cup.. Erling was fouled, injured, and out 2 months and Bournemouth got a throw in.

He's dirty and corrupt!

Lets also not forget Arsenal like to injure our players.. it was Rodri's ACL last season, before that it was KDB. This year it's Khusanov!

We had a goal ruled out at Anfield a few years ago for a much softer alleged foul. IIRC it was Foden and would have put us up 1-0 in the 2H. It was disallowed and Liverpool scored shortly after (the one where Salah skinned Cancelo on the half way line).

He was really bad, but being objective, he could easily have given yellows to Bernardo and Trossard for their contretemps which would have reduced us to 10.
